REQUIREMENTS

• 2+ years experience as Director of Data or similar role that encompasses leadership of both data engineering and data analytics teams.
• Proven success of working with C-Suite stakeholders to help shape strategy and deliver key strategic initiatives.
• Outstanding collaboration and problem-solving skills; Can form effective, supportive relationships with colleagues across the business and demonstrates a “problem solving” rather than a “problem watching” approach to challenges.
• Experienced exponent of predictable delivery; Applies sound forward planning techniques to ensure delivery of initiatives meets the expected timelines and manages the on-going delivery risk of initiatives that they are driving.
• Proven ability as a technical leader; Can provide a compelling rationale for their technical decision making to other directors and engineers across the Technology function.
• Passionate about developing people; Invest their own time into the personal development of their team members and cares deeply about the continual improvement of their team’s productivity and capabilities.
• Expert data engineering and database practitioner; Experience of designing and building AWS based data solutions including pipelines, data warehouse/lake. Experience of DBT or equivalent data modelling tool. Experience of administrating SQL databases and highly proficient in SQL query optimisation.
• Broad experience of data analytics and reporting platforms for a large and diverse user base; Experience of Looker, Power BI or Tableau as well as experience of developing a self-service reporting solution.
• Has hands on experience of a modern programming language (Python, Java, etc.)

Proxymity is looking for a Director of Data to drive the delivery of our next generation data infrastructure and help monetise Proxymity’s unique operational data set.
A key aspect of the role is leading the transformation of the way Proxymity models, distributes and leverages data and identifying opportunities by which our data could provide insights that can benefit our internal data consumers and our clients alike.
Working closely with our Product team and senior stakeholders in the business, the Director Of Data helps shape the Analytics and Reporting roadmap by identifying opportunities to deliver business value from our operational data.
The Director Of Data will be also lead our growing team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts, providing technical leadership and taking responsibility for the timely delivery of
their team’s roadmap as well as providing the team members with clear technical guidance aligned with the next generation data infrastructure strategy.
The Director Of Data will also collaborate with other directors in the Technology Function, the Chief Engineer and the Chief Technology Officer to shape the broader technical architecture vision and strategy for Proxymity.
Although this is a senior role within the Technology function, the Director Of Data needs to have strong hands-on experience of developing AWS based data infrastructure and modern data modelling tools, and can engage in detailed technical discussions with engineers from a range of different teams.
