Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (with 10+ years of direct work experience) in Electrical Engineering, field
  • 2 to 5 years experience in Engineering Technical Leadership
  • Experience with Commercial Aerospace Product Development processes
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in general Electrical Engineering field
  • Cradle-to-grave hardware development experience
  • Work experience as a Director of Engineering or in a similar senior- level position at an Engineering department
  • Strong project management experience and leadership skills with a strategic mind
  • Experience with working in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Innovative, problem solver, agile and adaptive to changes
  • Ability to work in a demanding and stressing environment
  • Global management experience- multiple sites preferre

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE:

The Director of Engineering manages the entire engineering department overseeing resources, staffing, and the enhancement and maintenance of a first-class engineering team. The Director of Engineering is also in charge of the management of technical support and relationships with other departments within Wavestream.
In their leadership capacity, the Director of Engineering develops, implements, and maintains engineering standards, policies and procedures. They also act as mentor to key development personnel, assisting in the execution of duties upon request, and readying these key personnel for the occupation of this position.
The Director Engineering drives the strategy and architecture of the business’s hardware development capabilities. They develop and implement engineering strategies meant for the development of technological tools and processes required for current and future hardware developments.
They organize activities for the development, implementation, release, and maintenance of projects necessary for product development and sustenance. In this capacity, the Director Engineering will also perform engineering design evaluations and ensure the completion of projects within resource, budget, and scheduling restraints.

Pay: $200,000 to $235,000

Responsibilities:

  • Strong Electrical Engineering technical leadership is required to direct and guide junior engineers in Mixed Signal, High Power and high frequency designs.
  • Develop competitive differentiation by ensuring team has best-in-class technical talent to innovate, help win business and solve challenging problems.
  • Provide execution oversight for important development, test, and evaluation efforts.
  • Elicit performance feedback regularly from programs consuming and directing routine personnel activities.
  • Establish staff performance expectations and provide regular feedback from both informal and scheduled reviews.
  • Coach, resolve conflict, and correct action as necessary to solve performance related issues.
  • Provide staffing forecasts and participate in all hiring activity.
  • Manage yearly department budget supporting both new product development and sustaining engineering teams.
  • Create, track, report, and manage department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide input and lead improvement of internal company procedures and processes.
  • Represent engineering team in product development requirements and creation of schedules and budgets.
  • Partner cross- functionally and own innovation by driving adoption of core technologies
  • Establish a strong engineering department culture, maintain highly qualified employees, sufficient to meet long- terms company’s goals.
  • Reputable computer skills using various software programs (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Visio).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
