At KCS the Director of Engineering oversees the engineering department, managing a diverse team of nearly 300 professionals, including developers, QA specialists, and delivery leads. The primary responsibility will be to foster an environment of growth, innovation, and efficiency, ensuring the engineering team delivers high-quality software solutions.
The Director of Engineering is a skilled people manager, focused on mentoring and developing the team to optimise dynamics and productivity. The role works closely with the VP of Architecture and their team, ensuring architectural strategies and standards are seamlessly integrated into the engineering processes, facilitating successful project execution and innovation

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical Leadership: Extensive experience in software engineering leadership, with a broad understanding of development, QA, and delivery processes.
  • People Management: Strong leadership and people management skills, capable of leading large engineering teams.
  • Strategic Alignment: Ability to align engineering resources with PMO requirements and company goals.
  • Agile Methodologies: Expertise in implementing and managing agile development processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage technical challenges and resource constraints.
  • Collaboration: Experience in collaborating with architecture and product management to deliver cohesive and integrated solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management and development of the engineering team, fostering an inclusive and innovative culture.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, meeting or exceeding industry standards.
  • Work closely with the VP of Architecture to align engineering practices with overarching architectural strategies.
  • Align resourcing and project assignments with PMO requirements to ensure optimal team performance and project delivery.
  • Drive the adoption of agile methodologies and continuous improvement practices within the engineering teams.
  • Implement effective resource management strategies to optimise team performance and project delivery.
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence and innovation, encouraging the exploration of new technologies and practices.
  • Conduct performance reviews, identifying development opportunities and addressing challenges within the engineering team.
