Johnson & Johnson Technology Services is recruiting for a Director of Enterprise Observability located in Raritan, NJ, Singapore or EMEA.
We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and ambitious individual to join our team at Johnson & Johnson as a Director of Enterprise Observability Service. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead the strategy and implementation of a new capability within our world-class Technology organization.

Responsibilities

  • Industrialize this new service for JJT by leading the effort to define the strategy, roadmap, Value, Service capability, Service Catalog, Talent model, & Financial model
  • Design and implement the enterprise observability solution using the strategically defined technologies and tools, such as New Relic, AppDynamics, Telegraf, Moogsoft, Grafana, and ServiceNow.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure the observability strategy supports business priorities and IT transformation initiatives.
  • Establish effective logging, tracing and dashboarding, data correlation across the End-to-end enterprise stack, ensuring seamless integrations with domain specific (network, cloud, security, etc) observability & monitoring platforms.
  • Track and demonstrate the value of enterprise observability by improving services through reduced business downtime, quicker time to detect, quicker time to resolve, reduced costs & improved user experience.
  • Lead HPT Observability platform team comprising of some direct reports along with some matrixed team members.
  • Partner with application service owners to enable enterprise observability via reusable assets via the service catalog.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, security, and business teams to understand their observability requirements and provide guidance and support.
  • Establish and enforce enterprise observability policies and governance.
  • Lead and participate in observability reviews and assessments to improve the service.
  • Assist in troubleshooting performance issues and maintain dashboards and reports related to enterprise observability.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the exploration of new ideas and approaches to enterprise observability; provide recommendations and roadmaps.
  • Mentor and coach other observability engineers and architects to foster a culture of observability excellence.
  • Conduct regular training and communications to ensure all stakeholders understand and utilize observability tools, processes and data effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a preference in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in software development, DevOps, SRE, or related roles.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in observability/monitoring/AI Ops engineering or architecture, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing observability solutions using various technologies and tools.
  • Expert knowledge of observability concepts, principles, and practices, such as metrics, logs, traces, alerts, dashboards, etc.
  • Strong skills to work with teams and application stakeholders to refine and implement metrics and events based on SLI requirements.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing, microservices, distributed systems, and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced & dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Certifications in AppDynamics, New Relic, ServiceNow, or related technologies is a plus.
    For those located in the United States the anticipated base pay range for this position is $142,000 -$244,950 USD.
