The Directorate of Estates & Facilities has a broad portfolio with a vast range of expertise and skills, operating and maintaining facilities and providing services to ensure King’s remains one of the world’s top universities. The Directorate ensures that students and staff at King’s and their experience at the university are at the heart of every decision they make and everything they do, striving to maintain a safe, sustainable and inclusive environment for students, staff and visitors. The five campuses house diverse spaces, including teaching and learning environments, cutting edge research facilities, two chapels and several multi-faith rooms, cafés and restaurants, fitness centres and student residences.
Estates & Facilities is a friendly, inclusive, and interesting place to work with many benefits; providing staff with a stable and supportive work environment. Our workplace culture programme aims to maintain and improve the customer and staff experience through six priorities: attracting staff who share our core values; having people-focused recruitment; onboarding staff effectively; developing our staff professionally and personally; promoting a consistent and reliable service; and separating positively when staff may leave. Our staff are committed to achieving excellence and are united behind the organisation’s mission to make the world a better place.
With significant ambitions, we are currently seeking a visionary Director of Facilities & Campus Management who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our facilities and enhancing the overall campus experience.
In this newly created role, the postholder will be entrusted with providing strategic leadership and direction to ensure the efficient operation of our university facilities. Their primary focus will be on fostering a vibrant and collaborative community environment through innovative use of space, technology, and best practices in facility management. They will spearhead initiatives aimed at optimising the teaching and research environment whilst prioritising the satisfaction and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.
The Facilities & Campus Management function comprises a team of c850 staff amongst the c1000 in the Directorate, with the Director’s team having oversight of the operations of c150 buildings, ensuring our campuses remain safe, sustainable, and inclusive.
The postholder will need to demonstrate a track record of visionary leadership, coupled with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service and driving operational excellence. They will lead a sizable team in Facilities Management, inspiring them to uphold the highest standards of performance and service delivery. They will collaborate closely with the Director of Estates & Facilities supporting the delivery of the Estate & Facilities Strategy and Philosophy. We anticipate that the successful applicant will have both the ambition to embark on a transformative journey and possess a desire to positively impact the lives of the staff and student body. It is also critical that the successful applicant can evidence a commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusivity.
