Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY:
BluMetric is seeking an experienced Director Finance, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, to join their dynamic Finance team located at our Ottawa office. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their financial reporting. This position requires a professional accounting designation, a strong background and knowledge of financial management and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial management role.
- Possesses strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Highly analytical with great attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of data warehouse, business intelligence and reporting fundamentals.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are a must and can simplify complex issues to a wide audience.
- A process-focused individual with a passion to drive and deliver effective change.
- Critical thinker who conceptualizes, analyzes, and synthesizes information in unstructured situations to solve problems and recommend solutions.
- Provide leadership to the accounting team and work collaboratively with other departments to achieve the organization’s financial goals.
- Exceptional quality standards and an ongoing desire to push for new approaches, insights and presentation methods.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Great Plains (GP), CRM, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Tech-savvy to identify, analyze and implement changes that enhance business performance.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- An interest in being part of a growing business with opportunities for strategic partnerships and acquisitions.
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the company’s financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Manage all aspects of revenue recognition (project-based and point-in-time).
- Establish and maintain robust processes over accounting operations, ensuring key internal controls meet quality standards, are consistently applied, and regularly reviewed.
- Manage and administer all financial and business systems including the implementation of new inventory management systems.
- Oversee the financial reporting process including quarterly consolidated financial statements and monthly management reports following IFRS standards.
- Coordinate with the financial reporting team on new and complex transactions and their impact on public document disclosures.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
- Analyze internal operations and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement.
- Coordinate and oversee the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure timely completion and accurate reporting.
- Manage cash flow and liquidity to support the company’s growth objectives.
- Provide leadership and guidance to accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Ensure the timely preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in financial management and accounting standards.
