Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Financial Aid reports to the Vice President of Student Finance and is responsible for the supervision and day-to-day operations of the Tuition Planning and Financial Aid functions for the University. Responsibilities include counseling students on methods of payment and funding options, awarding all sources of funds, originating federal funds, promoting financial literacy and overseeing default management. The Director of Financial Aid works very closely with the Directors of Compliance and Student Accounts and is a key member of the Functional Leadership Team. In addition, the Director serves as liaison to Academic Affairs, Admissions, Registrar’s Office and Student Services. In this capacity the Director will serve as the liaison to all students and families while making recommendations to the senior leadership of the University regarding processes that relate to student financial aid. The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for promoting an exceptional student experience.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of five years of financial aid experience
  • Demonstrate leadership skills with a strong emphasis on motivation, delegation, and the effective communication of goals
  • Excellent computer skills; able to use Microsoft Office products and University systems

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Tuition Planning and Financial Aid operation functions of the University
  • Work in conjunction with Main Campus and Accelerated Degree Program Admissions to achieve the recruitment objectives of the University
  • Recruit, manage and motivate personnel to develop a sense of teamwork that promotes an exceptional student experience
  • Ensure cooperative and timely support and communication to students, faculty and administrative staff
  • Implement, manage and maintain policies and procedures for tuition planning and financial aid awarding processes to ensure efficient operations while maintaining federal, state and university compliance at all times
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Compliance to ensure all Federal and State enrollment and financial reporting requirements are met
  • Proficient in utilizing PowerFaids, Jenzabar, Excel and other electronic means for the transfer of information.
  • Maintain and update University publications content for all financial aid information
  • Serve as a liaison with Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs, Student Services, and students and families in the planning and assistance of preparing new students to enter the University and in retention efforts to maintain current students’ enrollment at the University
  • Responsible for keeping informed of changing regulations regarding federal and state guidelines
  • Prepare management reports of a statistical and financial nature
  • Shares joint responsibility with the Directors of Student Accounts and Compliance to maintain fiscal compliance with Federal, State, and University regulations including, but not limited to, Title IV and private funding regulations and annual University audits
  • Work collaboratively with the Directors of Student Accounts and Compliance to assist in providing and documenting employee training on a regular basis
  • Prepare annual employee reviews
  • Respond to Customer Service issues and concerns
  • This position requires some evening and weekend hours to meet the operational needs of the Student Finance Office
  • Performs other duties as assigned
