Job Summary:
This person will manage all day-to-day Human Resource functions for an organization of 400 employees. This is the largest, most diverse St. Vincent de Paul in the world. SVdP provides a wide range of services to the community, ranging from thrift stores to urban farms to medical and dental clinics, and much more. This position is an upward mobility position and should be considered eligible to assume the position of Associate Chief of Staff when the current incumbent Associate vacates the position. The position may manage several direct reports. This position is a leading HR leadership position in the community. Prior experience in Human Resources is an essential prerequisite.

STRATEGIC HR LEADERSHIP:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support the organization’s business objectives.
  • Provide strategic HR leadership and direction to the executive team.
  • Ensure alignment of HR policies and programs with the organization’s goals.

Staffing and Recruitment:

  • Directs the talent acquisition process to attract, hire and retain top talent, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to develop skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Oversees the Society job posting process and ensures department leaders submission of additional and open requisitions to CFO for approval.
  • Follows up with the HR Manager ensuring Departmental job descriptions are accurate and updated and accurately reflect the duties and expectations of each position and employee within the organization.
  • Develop strategies for workforce planning and succession planning
  • Implement best practices for talent acquisition and onboarding.

MANAGEMENT OF HR OFFICE:

  • Assists the COS by providing support and guidance to HR Staff member, and management overall with specialized, and sensitive guidance as issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Oversee and manage the HR Staff members. Cross train to act as backup to these positions in incumbent’s absence.
  • Performs any other reasonable duties as assigned by Director of Human Resources.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates a strong acumen in the field of Human Resources in a non-profit setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Bi-Lingual a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Well versed in Labor Laws, Human Resource Regulations and ability to translate knowledge into effective practices and procedures
  • Versed in ADP
  • Strong acumen in analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate as appropriate.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Displays competency of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to approach all work with an ethical practice and advise on ethical practice as it relates to HR issues.
  • Ability to function with poise in a high-paced and at times anxious environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication skills including proficiency in developing and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to provide thoughtful, progressive and strategic guidance.
  • Ability to identify, influence and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve desired organizational outcomes.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and/or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum requirement of 10 years of related Human Resource department experience is preferred with Managerial experience.
  • PHR or SPHR professional designation is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach and lift up to 30 pounds are general requirements for this position
