JOB DESCRIPTION

  • This role will work with the Logistics procurement and operations to align the courier routing decisions and operational processes that are the best fit for both PPD’s clients and the operational delivery team.
  • This position will capture information, including risks, benefits and recommendations, to be brought to the members of the leadership for consideration and decision making.
  • This position will have autonomy to adjust and adapt operational ways of working in coordination with other impacted business units. Working closely with their direct reports, which include Associate Directors and managers, to understand the needs of the business and any limitations to operationalization of any innovations.
  • The position will have oversight for the Global Logistics operations team, as well as the labs Trade Compliance Team
  • This position will have direct oversight of Associate Directors and Managers, with second and third level management of additional managers, team leads and technical staff. The overall distributed team size will be approximately 100 people.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 12+ years). 5+ years of management responsibility. Strong leadership skills
  • In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Demonstrated experience with global logistics, including an understanding of import/export and trade compliance considerations for biological materials
Demonstrated leadership experience, with direct and indirect management responsibilities
Experience with process development to support the needs of a distributed team
Understanding of clinical trials. Understanding of central lab operations is recommended.
