JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our organization seeks an experienced Director of MGA, Commercial Insurance Programs and Surety offerings to lead and manage general agent (MGA) operations.
This role is pivotal to our organization’s growth and requires a candidate with a proven track record in the insurance industry, specializing in commercial insurance programs, surety bonds, and MGA leadership. The successful candidate will oversee the MGA operations, establish and maintain our innovative and future commercial insurance programs, which include surety, maintain and expand broker relationships, and spearhead our marketing efforts.
A strategic mindset, strong business development capabilities, and leadership in fostering partnerships and relationships are essential for this role.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or industry-specific certifications (e.g., AFSB, CIC) highly regarded.
  • 7-10 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a strong understanding of the Canadian Specialty Lines insurance marketplace; products, distribution channels, practices, and processes.
  • I have extensive experience in the insurance industry, with a strong focus on surety bonds, MGA programs through Lloyds Syndicates, and business development.
  • Experience working with delegated authority partners, such as Managing General Agents (MGAs) and program administrators.
  • Demonstrated success in developing surety programs, managing broker relationships, and working with Lloyds open markets.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to foster strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Deep understanding of the regulatory and legal framework governing the insurance and surety markets.
  • A strong business acumen, creative problem-solving ability, and high affinity for building relationships.
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively to a variety of audiences.
  • Exceptional ability to build cross-functional business partnerships.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Operations Management: Lead the surety and MGA programs, ensuring strategic goals are met through efficient management of teams, processes, and resources.
  • Business Development and Growth: Drive the expansion of our surety and MGA business by identifying new opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and entering untapped markets.
  • Bonding and Surety Programs: Through our Lloyds Markets, we oversee the development and management of a diverse range of bonding solutions and innovative surety programs tailored to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Broker and Partner Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and other partners, ensuring their needs are met and exploring opportunities for mutual growth.
  • Risk Management: Ensure all operations comply with legal, regulatory, and internal guidelines, managing risk effectively across the portfolio.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market analysis to stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics, leveraging insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Inspire and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous professional development.
