Description:
SUMMARY
We are hiring to build a robust Operations team to support our bakeries and Team Members. The newly established Director of Operations is a pivotal role within operations, reporting to the VP, Manufacturing. You will contribute significantly to strategic planning, forecasting and overall business initiatives with hands-on across bakeries in the GTA.
You will work closely with bakery leaders to ensure that all production schedules are met safely, and on time, while continually providing collaborative leadership, working with all departments to assist in the reduction of costs; improvement of production efficiencies, coach and mentor you team in quality processes, all within a fast paced food manufacturing environment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing leadership role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Finance is preferred.
- Must be a demonstrated leader who easily interacts with others and is adept at leading and motivating a team to meet demands established by the schedule
- Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP & O.H.S.A required
- Be a model to others. A “hands-on” style and is aggressive in achieving desired results
- Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
- Demonstrated leadership experience and success working in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for development and execution of long-term strategies and planning of manufacturing, sanitation, plant warehousing and maintenance across bakeries, while fostering a healthy and safe environment.
- Prepare KPI’s, in line with bakery specific goals and objectives
- Responsible for identifying measures of performance and actions required to achieve organizational goals and objectives, production costs, KPI targets, as well as continuous improvement opportunities.
- Provide support to bakery leadership teams, with oversight and accountability for safety, quality, cost of the products.
- Leads, coaches, mentors and supports leaders throughout the bakeries.
- Oversight of KPI’s across bakeries, including production, waste, downtime, scheduling, workforce and capacity planning.
- Support Continuous Improvement initiatives and teams across bakeries
- Works collaboratively with the T&D team to ensure compliance on people practices and to address any Team Member related issues
- Partners with other teams including Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering etc.
- Works closely with leadership teams ensuring compliance in food safety, BRC standards, etc is achieved in bakeries.
- Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing Company Standards and following up on regular inspections
- Fosters an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among Teams
- Champion change to elevate open and transparent communication across teams, ensure positive team member engagement, and overall people development.
- Support capital and opex projects
- Support relentless obsession for continuous improvement across bakeries to achieve and improve company goals.
