Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer, the Director, People & Culture (P&C) plays a critical role in overseeing and implementing programs to enhance the organizations People and Culture functions and foster a positive workplace culture. This role has oversight over human resources, recruitment, training, safety and payroll.
Salary Range: $120,000 to $140,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the CPCO to ensure People and Culture initiatives, programs and processes are aligned with overall corporate strategy, purpose, mission, and core values
  • Lead and mentor the P&C department managers to support their success and career aspirations.
  • Support, coach and mentor the P&C managers within the following key areas:
  • Key metrics to support the impact of P&C in the organisation
  • Payroll and benefits
  • Employee engagement and retention
  • Recruitment and workforce planning
  • Health, safety and prevention initiatives
  • Compensation and total rewards
  • Management and leadership development programs and general training
  • Diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
  • Oversee compliance updates to payroll, health and safety programs, employee policies and procedures, employment agreements, and other HR forms and documents
  • Participate in collective agreement negotiations and other union meetings
  • Enhance and improve existing employee rewards and recognition programs to reinforce the company core values and the fostering of a positive and inclusive work culture
  • Champion and lead the succession planning and performance management programs within the senior management team
  • Establish strong internal partnerships and collaborate with team members throughout all areas within the organization
  • Assist the CPCO in the planning and oversight of the P&C department budget and strategic planning
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business or human resources preferred (other business major’s acceptable) or equivalent
  • 5 to 7+ years experience at a Senior Manager and/or Director level leading multiple functional areas
  • Hands on experience of managing and mentoring high performing managers in a complex environment
  • Experience in labour relations is a strong asset
  • CPHR Designation is preferred
  • Acceptable security and criminal record check
