Zayo is seeking a Director of Procurement to join the Europe organization reporting directly to the segment’s Vice President of Finance. This position plays a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction of our European Procurement organization while contributing and supporting our global growth initiatives and global procurement standards. Candidates should view this as a “program” charter where the results and performance of all relevant functions in the organization are studied to assess the success of the Procurement function. This role is designed for an individual who thrives when challenged and wants to lead a meaningful transformation of a team that is key to our bottom line.

Responsibilities

  • Under your Direct Reports, own, at a minimum, the following vendor management and carrier relations activity in our territory:
  • Records documentation and contract database management
  • Cost lifecycle management
  • Sourcing options and vendor strategy
  • Contractual negotiations
  • Vendor on-boarding and relationship management
  • Vendor performance assessments
  • SLA enforcement
  • Working with other local functions and US-based personnel, advise and execute on the following value-adds:
  • Strategic partnerships
  • APIs and quoting automation
  • Develop and document the regulatory requirements to operate in new and existing territories
  • Market and competitive expertise
  • Construction RFPs and Contractor negotiations
  • Equipment and materials vendor relationships and updates
  • Contribute to optimization and cost mitigation efforts to reduce costs in the business
  • Contribute to global shared documentation and intelligence gathering
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our preferred vendors
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Enhance process to provide transparency to organization and improve performance
  • Good data = actionable data and better decisions; the individual must incorporate data management and systems expertise into their day-to-day
  • Ad hoc support to local VP as needed
  • Monthly and quarterly operating reviews
  • Lead a team of at least three people who are located in multiple markets
  • Mentorship / developing careers
  • 5-10% travel required

Qualifications

  • Telecommunications experience required
  • Ideal candidate has diverse professional experience with at least ten years in a Procurement-related function
  • Professional demeanour; self-accountable and self-motivated
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload efficiently and effectively
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information when needed
  • Problem solving; solutions-oriented
