Description:

Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and collaborative law firm with a national presence, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as a Director of Records and Information Management in its Buffalo, NY office. The Director of Records & Information Management will oversee the firm’s comprehensive records management program. The Director will be responsible for leading and managing three critical departments: Mail Services, Records & Information Management, and Library Resources.

Responsibilities::

  • Leadership and Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures for Mail Services, Records & Information Management, and Library Resources
  • Provide leadership to all three departments, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts
  • Serve on the Firm’s Leadership Team
  • Records and Information Management:
  • Oversee the firm’s records lifecycle process including creation, classification, retention, storage, retrieval, and disposal of firm records, documents, and information
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to records management including industry standards, firm policies, and client requirements
  • Mail Services:
  • Manage the firm’s central mail and forwarding program
  • Oversee the firm’s Mail Services operations including receipt, sorting, and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail
  • Implement efficient mail handling procedures to optimize productivity and minimize delays
  • Library Resources :
  • Develop strategies to enhance library services and resources, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the firm
  • Manage the firm’s library resources, including physical and digital collections, to support research, reference, and educational needs
  • Training and Compliance:
  • Provide training and guidance to staff across departments on records management best practices, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with records management policies and regulatory requirements
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with administrative leadership, legal leadership, and other key stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with management to provide updates on initiatives, challenges, and opportunities

Working Conditions::

  • Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment.
  • Travel : 5-10%

Experience/Requirements::

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Preferred: Master’s in Library and Information Science
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in records and information management, with progressively increasingly levels of responsibility
  • Law Firm experience preferred
  • Certification in records management (Certified Records Manager, Information Governance Professional, or equivalent) is a plus
  • Ability to respond to internal or external inquiries, including those of a sensitive, confidential, or adversarial nature
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations
  • Ability to effectively communicate, and nurture working relationships with all levels of management and staff

Benefits::
The annual salary range for this position is $105,000 - $140,000. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law. This position also offers a full benefits package.
