Director of Technical Services - Design & Construction

Zipdev is looking for a Director of Technical Services to join our client, a company with more than 40 years of experience in architecture and construction management. We are looking for someone with leadership and management experience in this industry, with an Architectural or Design background.
Responsibilities

Design Management Team Leadership

• Oversee and manage all project design, estimating, shop drawings, and technical side of project management as required
• Provide systematic hands on assistance for PM & PC
• Assist the President with project “crisis management” (Regarding technical crisis)
• Oversee all Engineering weekly team meetings
• Participate in Operations Weekly Team Meetings
• Manage and direct all SSE preconstruction/shop drawing activities

Preconstruction/Estimating

• Manage technical client/contractor interaction/questions pre and post-bid or as required
• Manage and Review all estimates prepared by engineering teams
• Finalize and provide cost input for all estimates and release for review by President

Shop Drawing Preparation

• Manage and direct shops drawing activities with PM
• Assist PM in all client/contractor interaction/questions as needed for greater expertise
• Review with Technical Coordinator and approve all shop drawings prior to client/contractor/fabricator distribution
• Lead pre-installation meetings with PM/PC
• Purchase Order Preparation
• Review original estimate vs. final estimate to determine actual costs
• Assist PM in writing of POs
• Manage Technical Coordinator working with the PC to determine potential fabrication and delivery schedules and timelines

Change Order Preparation

• Prepare detailed engineering and drawing backup for PM for change order submissions
• Assist PM to Field all questions/discussion on change order requests regarding drawings and engineering. Involve President when necessary

Project Installation

• Fielding phone calls, emails, RFI’s etc.

Technical Responsibilities

• Run all engineering efforts
• Provide leadership and direction to SSE engineering teams including in house
• Provide technical direction to engineering teams (as necessary) and contractors
• Interface and communicate with project A/E teams
• Work with Lead Engineers, Chairman of the Board & President on system design refinement

Master Job Functions

• Work with Lead Engineers, Chairman of the Board & President on new system design concepts

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years of experience in a leadership or management role in a construction company.
• Bachelor’s/Masters degree in Architecture, Design or related
• Clear and assertive communication
• A high technical aptitude with manufacturing and construction projects.
• Excellent project management skills to ensure the te
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with industry-specific software
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills, including active listening

• Bilingual communication (Spanish/English)
