Responsibilities:

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Official Institution Groups sits within the Financial Markets Global Research team. The primary function of the team is to provide rating advisory to the Bank’s sovereign and multilateral clients – workstream referred to as Sovereign Ratings Advisory (SRA) for the purpose of this Job Description. The SRA function provides Governments and select Multilateral clients with strategic advice on how to best manage their credit ratings and position their sovereign credit narrative with the three main credit ratings agencies (CRAs): S&P, Moody’s and Fitch. They team acts as a conduit between the sovereign / multilateral clients and the CRAs by facilitating various interactions throughout the year.

Strategy/Business

  • Deliver the SRA mandate across the following areas of engagement:
  • Sovereign / Multilateral review meetings and engagements with Credit Rating Agencies (CRA)
  • Facilitate dialogue with CRAs at key forums
  • Deliver capacity building and rating strategy/ roadmap to clients (as applicable)
  • Helping clients devise communication strategy around credit positioning for CRAs and Investors
  • Lead interactions with senior government officials and staff at Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) on all matters relating to SRA
  • Ensure highest standard of client management and advisory
  • Assist and advise clients in obtaining / maintaining ratings from international rating agencies including advising on rating related matters, such as methodologies and processes
  • Bring strategic thought and vision as to how the sovereign credit landscape regionally/globally is evolving and where areas of opportunities and challenges lie for the Bank’s sovereign and multilateral clients
  • Build and maintain working relationship with Senior Leaders in Rating Agencies, other key official sector stakeholders
  • Maintain team’s interaction and visibility with key senior analysts, to deepen understanding on their line of thoughts
  • Demonstrate Familiarity with rating agency methodologies. Prepare thematic or industry notes for internal senior management and potentially external clients.
  • Provide ratings expertise in strategic banking/ advisory deals with multilateral institution clients
  • Provide the bank with global sovereign debt insight and expertise
  • Drive efforts to ensure the Bank is up to speed on the latest efforts relating to sovereign debt distress and the related impacts
  • Provide technical knowledge around sovereign restructuring and related impacts
  • Represent the Bank in various fora such as GSDR, IIF, Paris Club

    People & Talent

  • Lead the SRA mandate execution process and ensure delivery of high-quality work within timelines

  • Demonstration of adherence to the management principles for effective risk and control and the Group’s fair accountability principles
  • Contribute to a culture in which all stakeholders feel safe to raise concerns and risk and compliance matters are addressed

    Risk Management

  • Understand and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Groups policies, procedures and the Group Code of Conduct

  • Effectively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters
  • Mitigation of risks and resolution of issues in a timely manner
  • Adherence to laws and regulations, internal risk and compliance policies and the Group Code of Conduct
  • Completion of all mandatory risk and compliance training including e-learning
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Group policies on sovereign ratings advisory, including continued alignment with the sovereign rating advisory PPG and the SRA Best Practices Paper

Regulatory & Business Conduct
