What you’ll be doing
The Director, Payments Analytics will have accountability for providing expert analytics leadership to our product partners as part of the Analytics & Decision Science team. In this role, you will lead the analytics agenda for the Payments team, acting as a strategic thought partner, delivering insights, analysis, tools and data-driven recommendations to help identify opportunities to grow the business and better serve our clients.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. How you’ll succeed

  • Analytics Consulting Leadership – Establish an industry-leading expert Payments analytics consulting team. Develop strong trusted advisor relationships with Payments partners through impactful engagements. Integrate deep domain knowledge with analytical capabilities to deliver value to stakeholders, enable data-driven decision making and proactively identify opportunities to drive business growth (projects/business cases, acquisition/retention campaigns, pricing, channels, segments, products and process enhancements).
  • Analytics Delivery & Innovation – Lead the identification and deployment of analytics and statistical techniques (descriptive, predictive, prescriptive) to extract actionable insights out of client behaviours and business trends (both internal and external). Lead the integration of big data, business intelligence, visualization, self-service and analytical tools into the everyday toolkit of the team. Champion the exploration and integration of new analytics tools and techniques to innovate, build strategic analytics assets and drive efficiency.
  • Partner for Success – Own key relationships across our business and with external partners to facilitate our analytics delivery model. This includes, but is not limited to internal partners in Analytics, Product, Channel, Technology, Risk, Marketing and Finance as well as external Channel, Bureau and Benchmarking partners.
  • Ownership – Lead the end-to-end orchestration of internal and external partner engagement to ensure the delivery of solutions the meet stakeholder requirements and contribute to business success. Think and act like an owner by engaging and integrating the right resources to efficiently deliver on business needs.
  • People Management/ Leadership – Create and sustain a high performing, inspired workplace that is consistent with the values of CIBC. Be a champion of team coaching models, recognize great work, manage career and succession planning and attract/develop top talent to fill key roles in the team in support of our evolving business.

Who you are

  • You have well-developed leadership skills with proven ability to lead in a fast paced, ambiguous, multi-dimensional matrix environment and to effectively manage multiple activities with varying complexity while under tight time frames
  • You have strong knowledge of Payment Products, Deposits and Open Banking to enable insightful analysis and interpretation of performance and emerging payment trends
  • You are a problem solver. You have exceptional critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills with demonstrated ability to independently identify and analyze business problems strategically and recommend creative solutions.

  • You have a Degree or Professional Designations in a quantitative field (i.e. mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, engineering, physics, business) or equivalent experience. Advanced degree is an asset (i.e. MMA, MBAN, MSc, MA, MBA, CA, CMA).
  • You have working knowledge of analytical and data visualization tools. Any combination of SAS, SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, Alteryx, and have the ability to provide guidance to the team on tool deployment and utilization.
  • You have working knowledge of statistical techniques (i.e. regression, time-series analysis, clustering, decision trees).
