Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plan, manage and lead the Radiation Protection Services Section to ensure the effective delivery of complex and accredited scientific commercial services
  • Provide effective and efficient strategic and operational leadership to the section to ensure a cohesive approach to service provision
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders in order to ensure responsiveness to customer demand, and to identify new opportunities for service delivery.
  • Lead the continuous research, measurement and analysis of best practices, innovations, and emerging trends in a fast-paced field to manage customers and gain specific market position
  • Manage specialist projects including identification and analysis of emerging issues and risks

The successful applicant will have outstanding personal attributes including personal drive and astuteness together with a sound understanding of the commercial and technical requirements for the delivery of accredited scientific services. The applicant will have the capacity for leading, developing and motivating staff to achieve business outcomes; and they will have demonstrated experience in engaging stakeholders and clients as well as an ability to drive the development and improvement of commercial business activities. Experience in commercial and/or government service delivery environments would be an advantage.
The applicant will have highly developed communication and consultation skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to drive the development of an effective, inclusive and high performing culture. The applicant will possess highly developed leadership skills with a demonstrated record of successfully driving change and being able to respond flexibly and promptly to organisational and sectional requirements.
It is highly desirable that the applicant has a degree in business or management from an Australian university or alternative, or have comparable qualifications or equivalent experience, which are appropriate to the duties of the position.
You must hold Australian citizenship or possess permanent residency status leading to citizenship and be prepared to travel interstate from time to time as required. ARPANSA requires all new employees to obtain and maintain a NV1 security clearance as a condition of engagement.

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Under broad direction from the Branch Head, the Director of Radiation Protection Services is responsible for delivering the strategic and operational outcomes of commercial activities including planning and leadership of the business, marketing, capital investment, technical and human resource functions.
