Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Retail Sales, the Director, Sales will be responsible for creating, maintaining and executing a Strategic Sales plan that aligns with and supports growth, strategic and financial goals. The successful candidate will work with the sales team and provide proper guidance to efficiently manage the business unit activities. The candidate will be responsible for implementing a plan to manage the profitability, the product mix, the pricing strategies as well as developing new business opportunities while meeting the growth targets. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, show leadership and initiative, professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail which are all core Saputo Company values. He or she will have an entrepreneurial flair, thrive on challenge, can prioritize the right job so it gets done on time, and can work effectively in a collaborative, high-priority environment.

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Establish a long-term business strategic plan in alignment with Saputo’s growth strategy;
  • Provide guidance to the sales team to ensure we offer an optimal product portfolio that will maximize growth objectives and develop new opportunities through innovation;
  • Participate in the development of annual operating plan and budgets:
  • Ensure Customer performance reviews;
  • Actively manage net margin expectations and develop, provide guidance in the implementation of action plans to meet established objectives where necessary;
  • Assist/prepare regular business reviews and new product presentations to both customers and internal stakeholders;
  • Provide support and guidance to the sales team to optimize pricing and promotional plans, new product presentations, forecasting, trade spend management, debit notes, logistics, QA;
  • Build excellent relationships at all levels in the customer’s organization and within the Saputo organization and influence business decision leading to growth;
  • Participate in the S&OP process;
  • Maintain a high degree of market and dairy industry knowledge in terms of products, pricing, discounts and sales levels;
  • Collaborate with Saputo various functions;
  • Supports and maintains Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P.’s quality standards.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business admin or commerce; or equivalent education and training desired;
  • 10 years in account management or business/product development in the Grocery/Retail environment;
  • 2-3 years of experience in managing a sales account team;
  • Experienced sales professional that has created and managed a multifaceted annual plan & budgets;
  • Business development skills – proven track record of excellence in finding opportunities, achieving sales and margin targets;
  • experience with cross-functional teams; ideally with experience in the Sales & Operations Planning process;
  • Dependable and team oriented with a proven ability to build internal and external relationships;
  • Strong communication skills with ability to influence;
  • Strong business acumen: ability to use available financial information and other operational data to create business plans leading to growth;
  • Strong analytical, organization, interpersonal skills;
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • Able to work with tight deadlines and multi-task in a dynamic and high priority environment;
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Bilingual is an asset (English/French, written and spoken)
