Microsoft’s Consumer Marketing Organization’s Social team is revolutionizing how we take storytelling into our social channels. We’re looking for a Director, Social Media who is creative and excited by the opportunity to create to join us.

You will have a unique opportunity to lead social from brands like Microsoft Copilot, Windows, and Edge across organic and paid campaigns, creator and influencer campaigns, and community management supported by a robust measurement and analytics effort. You are a creative thinker, react nimbly, understand social media and its trends deeply, and share our love of technology.
As a Director, Social Media you will set the vision for how Microsoft consumer brands engage in social media. You will partner with integrated marketing creative leads, web, media, PR, consumer insights and global product marketing to develop social campaigns (paid and organic) and social media extensions (influencer and creator campaigns). You will liaise with our commercial counterparts to ensure consistency across audiences. You may even get to work with our international partners to help define and drive campaigns in other markets. You will manage relationships with our social media agencies by delivering social content and campaigns that might include apps, videos, message posts, offers and more across Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Do all of this with a fan-focused spirit, putting our audiences front and center on all outward facing executions.

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 5+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years people management experience (people, project, process, vendor, change).
  • 3+ years experience leading marketing social media efforts.

ADDITIONAL OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 7+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related experience
  • OR Master’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 3+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related experience
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people management experience.
  • Experience with successful campaign development; creative and strategic solutions, execution of initiatives, and the ability to operate at different altitudes with stakeholders across several organizations when required.
  • Experience leading and executing projects in a complex organizational environment and working on several diverse projects at the same time.
    Integrated Marketing M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $242,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $264,000 per year.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead consumer marketing social media efforts across Microsoft inclusive of consumer audiences, platforms, and events. Develop a clear articulation of the Microsoft Consumer Social Media strategy and how to measure successful implementation across those audiences and platforms.
  • Lead development and implementation of social media campaigns and creator activations across owned and earned social channels, relevant paid media opportunities and across audiences. Partner with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Lead development of engaging customer social media and creator experiences by tracking customer feedback (qualitative and quantitative), working with customer support teams, and leveraging an understanding of industry, market, and competitor trends.
  • Lead process and partner integrations with Public Relations (PR), Integrated Marketing and Product Marketing to ensure consistency with marketing goals and to leverage synergies across marketing efforts.
  • Lead relationships with social media platforms and agency partners to deliver a social media content strategy, aligned with the social media editorial calendar and social media campaigns, produce, and secure all content required for social media campaigns and social activations, including video, apps, message posts, etc.
  • Lead efforts on how we actively “listen” to the social media community on a daily/weekly basis, analyzing and interpreting results to drive social media campaign optimization. Lead development of measurement methodology on how we deliver detailed performance reports across all social media campaigns and programs.

This role will manage five direct reports and several vendors and will be responsible for developing an impactful team to deliver a best-in-class service, through executive presence and leadership, aligning to Microsoft’s culture.
