Description:

Serves as a member of the Organization’s nursing leadership team. Responsible for patient care
delivery, planning, and evaluation of clinical services for the regional float pool program.
Participates in and supports strategic development and outcomes management of nursing service line
and/or department improvements within multi and/or specialty units of responsibility.
Provides clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and
evaluating safe, superior and preeminent quality patient care to ensure the advancement of clinical
practice and patient care for a nursing unit that is consistent with the ANA Scope of Practice, American
Organization of Nurse Executive (AONE) Nurse Leader/Manager competencies, and American Nurses

Credentialing Center Magnet Standards. Collaborates with and supports director and key leaders, groups and stakeholder audiences in the development and implementation of operational plans, goals, and objectives.

  • Serves as a member of the nursing leadership team to participate and givefeedback into the development and implementation of the nursing strategic plan,implementation of change and inform departmental decision-making. Supportsthe development and implementation of the nursing mission, vision, values andstrategic, short and long-term goals and objectives, standards of care, andoperating plans for the Float Pool Dept.
  • Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team and unit staff in thedevelopment, implementation, and monitoring of unit operating and capitalbudgets.
  • Develops, implements, and manages ongoing measurement, action planning,and evaluation methods related to all dimensions of performance inclusive ofbudget, productivity, associate engagement, patient satisfaction, workplacesafety, healthy work environments, and clinical outcome targets for the Float Pooldepartment.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors plans related to education and requiredcompetencies, orientation, retention, cultural competence, conflict management,and coaching of associates to ensure staffing for safe, superior and preeminentquality patient care for the Float pool department.
  • Ensures the recruitment, retention, development, mentoring, succession planningfor and engagement of quality patient care associates within the assigned clinicalunit. Develops, promotes, and implements an environment of shared leadershipand decision- making.
  • Participates in evaluating, selecting and integrating health care technology andinformation systems that support patient care.
  • In collaboration with the director, interdisciplinary team members, and QualityDepartment associates, facilitates, develops, directs, manages, and monitors theimplementation of effective evidence-based programs, policies, and protocols, tomeasure, analyze and continuously improve the safety and quality of patient carein the Float Poo Dept demonstrated through empiric outcomes.
  • Communicates and collaborates on a regular basis with nursing leaders, ancillarydepartment leaders, associates, and other identified stakeholders’ achievementsand concerns related to patient safety, quality, patient loyalty, associateengagement, and satisfaction throughout the assigned region. Develops andimplements action plans to address concerns utilizing a shared decision-makingmodel.
  • Participates in organization decision-making workgroups to implementimprovement changes within the organization.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned by the Director of float pool/VP PatientCare Services, Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Ensures compliance with all healthcare standards and requirements establishedby various licensing, regulatory, and accreditation bodies. Maintains a workingknowledge of Health Organizational Integrity Programs, Standards of Conduct, aswell as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a mannerthat reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required and MBA or Master’s preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of healthcare leadership experience is required.
