THE OPPORTUNITY

The EY Strategy and Transactions (SaT) team is looking for market facing talented professionals with considerable experience in ESG/sustainability strategies and transactional knowledge able to formulate responses, strategies and analyses to our clients, including financial institution such as EIB or on behalf of the EIB in the fields of

  • Energy projects such as energy supply, enabling infrastructure, energy efficiency, energy intensive processing industries, innovation and new types of energy infrastructure;
  • Energy transition projects and low carbon technologies and cleantech;
  • Sustainable strategies, ESG assessments, Green and sustainable finance;
  • Smart Growth, Social Infrastructure, Horizon Europe and SMEs Access to Finance;
  • Natural capital accounting and strategies.

We are looking for colleagues to join us in Brussels as their home office. You will be working for and behalf of the corporates as well as for EIB understanding the impact of the sustainability impact on their strategies and/or operations.

Responsibilities:

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will work as a SaT subject matters expert in a team of professionals dedicated to providing sustainability services.
  • You will be involved in projects which include technical support, project preparation and project implementation, market assessments and strategies, transaction advisory support, feasibility studies, evaluations, project management set-up of financing solutions, modeling. Such projects may involve performing desk research, data collection, policy advise, data analysis and report drafting. You will be expected to grow our sustainability (including EIB) business.
  • In the capacity of business development, you will build relationships, initiate contacts and participate in go-to-market actions, tenders and proposals.
  • You will manage the administration and financial aspects of ongoing projects, liaise with colleagues throughout the EY Global Network and coordinate multi-sector projects.
  • You will focus on developing our sustainability practice providing robust ESG assessments, strategies, analysis and insights to support our clients’ strategic and operational decision making around all elements of the sustainability agenda.

TO QUALIFY FOR THE ROLE YOU MUST HAVE

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as engineering, economics, European affairs, green economy & sustainability or related fields;
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with a demonstrated track record of successfully implementing sustainability projects (e.g. due diligence, (ESG) strategy and/or impact modeling).
  • A demonstrated track record of delivering sustainability value creation and/or ESG strategies;
  • Understanding of sustainability best practices in areas of business model innovation, transformation, digitization and impact measurement, and valuation;
  • Working experience with project assessment support, project preparation support, project implementation support, project monitoring and verification, advisory support, capacity building, knowledge creation;
  • Knowledge on Sustainability Infrastructure, energy, ESG, financing (policies) or sustainability initiatives;
  • Working experience for or on behalf of the EIB or similar international institutions and good knowledge of the EIB and European Union Institutions policies is an asset;

  • Proven working experience in a similar role in consulting industry, a public institution or a bank/financial institution;
  • Be able to work on complex projects that require multi-sector knowledge, knowledge of business strategy, sustainability strategy and operations.
  • Familiar with ESG-related risks and impact to business operations, risk mitigation techniques and sustainable value creation opportunities, quantification the impact of ESG factors on shareholder returns, ESG due diligence ESG operating models and strategies, and/or ESG performance;
  • Understanding of key sustainability issues and trends (carbon, circular economy, social-economic impact) and how they link to business value and/or how ESG strategies creates or protect value;
  • Knowledge on option analysis, forecasting, cost benefit analysis, environmental and social impact assessment, climate risk and vulnerability assessment, climate change adaptation, operational and institutional viability, procurement strategy, project implementation;
  • Experience with the development of methodological guidelines, model project approaches, PPP-grant blending, compliance with legal provisions (e.g. environmental)
  • High motivation and passion for sustainability, climate change, mitigation and/or adaptation.
  • Working experience in ESG due diligence, sustainability strategies and/or impact modeling.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
