JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Global Talent & Learning leads this Global Center of Excellence for the ACCO Brands organization, with an emphasis on delivering impactful strategies and programs for improving performance management, succession planning, and individual/career development; all while keeping the Employee Experience at the forefront. The individual in this key role will help ensure that ACCO Brands and its employees are prepared to face a changing market and industry through pragmatic and contemporary talent practices and the right outcomes-based learning, in the right manner, at the right time. This role serves as a thought partner with Executive Leadership, HR Leadership and Business Partners, and the VP of Global Talent and Organization Effectiveness on strategic talent and learning needs in all aspects of the talent lifecycle.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Business experience focused on design and delivery of individual contributor, manager, and leadership development programs
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR related field from an accredited college/university
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to various audiences and engage/influence senior level stakeholders; advanced proficiency in technology tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SAP HR modules, Learning Management, and course authoring tools)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to influence, build relationships, and drive change at all levels of the organization
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and collaboration skills; strategic and critical thinking skills, including exercising professional judgment, organization, planning, data analysis and time management
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, with multiple project team members and multiple scopes of authority toward a common project outcome
  • Proficient in project management principles including budgeting and resource management (including working with external vendors)
  • Deep knowledge of talent development, performance management, and succession planning strategies and best practices
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand and align talent strategies with organizational goals
  • Rich understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and various learning technologies, including Agile methodologies

Preferred:

  • Master’s in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, HR equivalent, or Business
  • Experience working with executive management teams
  • Experience in designing and managing effective employee onboarding programs
  • Administrative experience in SAP HR Talent and Learning Management modules
  • Experience building programs from ground-up, with limited funds
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus
  • Certification in learning and development (e.g., CPLP, CPTD, DiSC, SLII) a plus

Responsibilities:

TALENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development of and insights-based, integrated talent and learning strategy focused on equipping managers to support, engage, and retain employees in a competitive talent environment that also supports the organization in building new capabilities as our business and culture continue to transform
  • Execute the annual global talent management cycle plan of goal setting, employee development planning, talent review, and performance review in alignment with workforce and business planning decisions
  • Expand, refine, and continually advance the adoption of talent management programs and processes managed within our HR system [SAP Success Factors] based on best practices, our global business needs and long-range objectives
  • In partnership with key HR business partners around the globe and the Diversity and Culture center of excellence, create targeted talent and development strategies that will enhance our ability to attract and retain diverse talent, with an emphasis on strengthening our pipeline of female talent at all levels of the organization
  • Help foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development as a critical attribute within across the organization through programs such as mentoring, coaching, 360 feedback and team building sessions
  • Coordinate and communicate global timelines on HR Cycle Plan with all departments
  • Gathering input and evaluate talent management and development processes and implement corrective actions that improve efficiency and effectiveness of the people planning process
  • Develop an approach to sharing data and insights with senior leaders on current and future state talent needs of ACCO Brands including, but not limited to mobility, retention risk, succession planning, employee performance and ratings, span of control, employee headcount, workforce demographics
  • Advance HR department employee’s ability to facilitate and install global talent practices and serve as thought leader to the business on best-fit talent principles and practices

LEARNING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a strategic learning roadmap through collaborating with key stakeholders to assess, design, develop, implement, and measure development programs, initiatives, and services that align with organizational goals, support talent development, and address skill and capabilities gaps. This includes managing all aspects of program/project implementation such as project scoping, planning, deliverables, vendor and stakeholder management, budget, content and materials development, and communication strategy.
  • Direct the work of a team to define the organization’s learning needs in relation to business goals, and create or curate programs and processes to improve employee engagement, culture, compliance, leadership skills, change management, and close functional and technical skills gaps. This involves managing the delivery and continuous improvement of signature leadership development programs, coordinating the utilization, and sharing of learning resources across the company, and fostering knowledge sharing across departments, sites, and regions.
  • Partner with key departments (most specifically Legal, Finance, and IT/Cybersecurity) to deploy and audit compliance training requirements globally
  • Ensure the efficient use of the learning management system and measure the return on investment of all enterprise learning activities.
  • Manage external content providers, contracts, and the corporate learning budget. Identify opportunities for leveraging learning vendors for common solutions and oversee the Learning Management System to provide and track training.
  • Remain up to date on industry trends, best practices, and innovations in learning and development to continuously enhance the company’s programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring proactive communication of current and future learning solutions to meet business needs and promote utilization of learning programs and resources.

DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide input on annual HR and department priorities, required budget and adherence to spend
  • Publish monthly and quarterly learning talent and learning metrics in support of the HR and Business strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with HR leaders, HRBPs, and department managers to educate teams on the HR Talent Management platform, serving as Subject Matter Expert
  • Ensure appropriate adaptation and adoption of all talent and learning initiatives
  • Understand key business goals and determine development needs to support the advancement of these goals.
  • Continue to advance progress on the digital transition of company talent and learning processes by effectively leveraging the full capabilities of the HR people system (SAP Success Factors)
  • Emphasizes the agile development and delivery of internally owned talent and learning solutions
  • Partner with HR Team and Senior Leaders to advance appreciation for workforce analytics, talent portfolio, Organizational Development, and HR Technology
  • Become a key ambassador to accelerate ACCO Brands external image as a top employer and developer of talent
