POSITION SUMMARY…

This position reporting to the VP of Transportation is a core member of the transportation leadership team. This role is directly responsible to establish the Canada Transportation systems and analytics strategy as well as the steward for the transportation strategy and programs. This includes: communicating the strategic vision, connecting the strategic pillars in a unified manner and defining new ways of working associated with each transportation area (fleet, outbound, transportation services).
This role will be responsible for creating the Project Governance, Change and Communication programs for effective sequencing, implementation, ensuring all training materials and SOP’s are updated for field associates. This role will also play a key role in the tracking, monitoring, and involvement of transportation teams in key cross functional projects and programs with teams from store operations, DC operations, Ecommerce, SC Planning and Replenishment.
The role’s core responsibilities is to ensure the fleet and transportation systems as well as all transportation data is timely and accurate leading to all decision made by the transportation team country wide. Among the most important of these would be ensuring accurate and timely systems and data leading to the summarization and sharing of key PnL data and reporting leveraged by all areas within transportation.
The role manages the team responsible for 5 year system planning, 3rd party software vendors that support transportation teams in numerous systems as well as critical system support liaison with internal and external core partners. The role is also responsible for core data stewardship of all transportation data which is located in many independent systems requiring careful coordination to ensure accurate reporting and system performance. These two core functions have direct responsibility to the success of daily Transportation and DC operations. (routing, PO tendering, dispatch ect).
This role is a key liaison for the Canada Transportation business unit with the Global logistics transportation and Walmart US and Canada technology teams, ensuring the business system strategy and road map is adequately developed and communicated in a timely manner escalating to Senior Leadership to ensure effective customer service and current system issues, projects and new developments.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the team of 10 plus associates responsible for the design, development and execution of the Transportation Analytics and Systems strategy.
  2. Innovation of the transportation systems and network by designing and leading projects such as but not limited to Stride, FourKites, EDI and future state Transportation Management Systems (TMS) that enable the low cost with such programs as Geofencing and Pay per Mile.
  3. Drive the design and development of advanced analytics of big data through key systems such as Alteryx, Tableau and other enterprise analytic tools ensuring all reporting inclusive of crucial PnL data is accurate and timely.
  4. Business Product Manager and expert for core transportation systems (WTMS, Ortec, TMW) and collaborate with Canada and US Technology teams to maintain and improve the core Transportation systems that enable the low cost model of $500 million in spend.
  5. Responsible to engage all levels of leadership in the prioritization, planning and execution of systems and projects and programs through effective communication of analytic initiatives. Communicating the strategic vision, connecting the strategic pillars in a unified manner and defining new ways of working associated with each pillar. This role will be responsible for creating the Project Governance, Change and Communication programs.
  6. People Management. Accountable for developing logistics and transportation business system competencies across different levels within the Walmart Canada Logistics and the Third Party Logistics Providers. Responsible to ensure the personal development of both direct and indirect reports.
  7. Transportation Network and Business Processes Optimization responsibility for developing capability initatives and building business models for continuous optimization of overall transportation networks and business processes by engaging carriers, vendors, 3PL, CA and US Technology and internal functional teams.
  8. Responsible for the implementation and support of all business system capability requirements of the Walmart Private Fleet and Transportation Services teams.‎
