Job Summary:
We are seeking a full-time Marine Dispatcher. As the Marine Dispatcher you will be primarily responsible for the safe and effective daily scheduling and planning of company resources and third-party service providers to meet customer requirements.
The focus for this role is to effectively schedule and dispatch our fleet of tugs to maximize equipment utilization while maintaining cost efficiencies in meeting customer service requirements. The work schedule for the Marine Dispatcher is one week on followed by one week off based on 80 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the daily assignment of company and contracted resources to maximize equipment utilization and efficiency while maintaining a superior level of customer service
- Ensure the Company meets all customer requirements, and any changes are communicated immediately
- Prepare billing files and process voyage documentation
- Maintain effective two-way communication with all marine personnel regarding concerns of the crews as they relate to safety, and the ability to perform duties effectively and be the first point of contact for crew and customers based on 24/7 during the scheduled week on.
- Work with the crew scheduler to dispatch marine personnel in accordance with established guidelines, ensuring crews have the necessary instructions to perform their duties safely and effectively
- Track and report on a variety of operational metrics and requirements.
- Work closely with the Manager, Operations to ensure maximum utilization and that vessel efficiencies are being achieved and support the operations group in their effort to train and develop marine personnel
- Coordinate vessel supplies such as fuel, ship’s stores and groceries. Coordinate vessel repairs with the vessel maintenance staff
Requirements:
- 3-5 years’ experience in local marine operations (either on vessel or shoreside), or in transportation and logistics is required for this role
- Previous marine dispatch experience is a strong asset
- Strong knowledge and experience within the transportation and marine industries
- Strong computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office suite of applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Strong written and oral communication skills and superior customer service orientation
- Strong relationship development skills & ability to work effectively in a team
- Ability to multi-task, adapt to constant change and work in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to work autonomously
- Demonstrates excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
- Experience in computerized environment
- Familiarity with Transport Canada and other maritime regulations preferred
- Good knowledge and understanding of Fraser River, tides, weather forecast is an asset.
- Maintain independent on call duties. The work schedule includes providing on-call coverage for after office hours, on weekends and holidays, as needed.
