We are looking for our new Distribution & Warehouse Manager Appetizers for our Appetizers organization at McCain in Continental Europe. You will work in our plant in Rilland, the Netherlands and travel occasionally to other sites within Belgium and the Netherlands.
As the distribution & warehouse manager Appetizers you will gradually start the harmonization of practices within our two entities (McCain Appetizers Europe and Van Geloven). Within this position you will directly manage five people, and indirectly two team leaders and twelve employees. You report to the Supply Planning & Logistics Director Appetizers.
You will cover all the logistics, storage and distribution activities related to Van Geloven and McCain Appetizers Europe. This means the logistic activities, at the onsite locations (Rilland and Kruiningen in the Netherlands and Mol in Belgium) from where we ship directly to our end customers, as well as external storage locations, with the objective to guarantee an excellent and consistent service to customers at foreseen cost. Your goal is to keep the performance at the targeted customer service level, and while keeping an eye on the total operating costs.
Through the management of your team, you will ensure the safety & quality compliance of McCain onsite stores and external service providers to achieve best in class performance. You will have to provide stock projections and negotiate capacity requirements when needed with the different service providers in alignment with SLA’s / agreements / contracts.

Key responsibilities:

  • You implement and align with our key Safety Principles, ensuring all external and internal people on site work in safe conditions. You do this by leading by example, regularly running safety audits, and reporting on the overall onsite safety performance. Quality is key for McCain. To bring structure and standardization you will ensure that: our IT systems and procedures operate in a normal way to guarantee regular and predictable performance of the logistics operations; and all external & onsite cold stores are compliant with the McCain Quality Assurance requirements.
  • For a smooth delivery, you establish monthly meetings with our main logistic hubs in our network to review and propose solutions for recurring issues and work proactively on optimization projects. You are responsible for an accurate inventory of the finished products, going from stock counting to system updates and system improvements.
  • You will monitor and optimize service levels with external service providers according to agreed SLA’s in order to provide optimal service to our internal and external customers.
  • You will analyze deviations and propose corrective action plans to control the costs, while making continuous SCA improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You have a logistics background, either in study or experience, with a proven track record in project management.
  • You have a good understanding of supply chain processes within an FMCG environment.
  • Thanks to your ownership and experience within change management, you step up when needed, without leaving any stone unturned.
  • You are practical minded and don’t mind working along the team when the situation requires.
  • You are resilient and work well within a team, while developing your team and keeping them involved in the progress that needs to be made.
  • You enjoy developing your team, while looking continuously for improvements where you challenge the status quo.
  • You have excellent Dutch and English skills.
  • You have excellent analytical skills that you connect to a good understanding of IT systems (SAP) and a data driven approach.
