To hold day to day responsibility for managing the provision of education within District Nursing in response to identified need and strategic priority.
To effectively manage human and financial resources to ensure safe practice during the student’s academic course and be responsive within the organisations sphere of work.
To provide clinical leadership and be the first point of contact for students and their mentors and other stakeholders e.g. the university to enable prompt management response to operational issues.
To manage the processes for assessing and performance managing professional development within their sphere of responsibility
Have responsibility for running and continuing to promote the development programme to assist with CPD and recruitment to the CSP programme
To manage the process of recruitment to the community health programme
To work with service leads in developing workforce plan within District nursing
Has continuing responsibility for CSP students and their mentors within a defined academic course assessing their needs and organising resources to meet these needs.
To develop and maintain accurate recording of courses completed and its impact upon the workforce
To liaise with the PEF in maintaining mentor register and up dates
Maintain one’s own professional knowledge and develop and promote implementation of new legislation to the workforce

Responsibilities:

To hold, day to day responsibility for CSP students and their mentors within a defined academic course assessing their needs and organising resources to meet these needs
Follows broad occupational policies and implements within sphere of work.
Deploy and manage human and financial resources to ensure safe and responsive clinical services.
Manage the recruitment and placement of the CSP student considering their learning needs
Support the mentor and act as sign off where required for the CSP student
Provide support for the CSP student and mentor in Tameside and Glossop over the 24hour period to manage expected and unexpected clinical events within the scope of practise during the academic course
Supervise and monitor CSP student and mentors through 1:1, clinical supervision, workshops and liaising with the university
Ensures risk assessments are completed and actions implemented to meet the health and welfare needs of the students and mentors also informing the university of any such risks
Ensure national and local targets are reported through the organisations reporting mechanisms.
To regularly monitor and report on quality assurance within organisational frameworks
Act as a professional resource to other healthcare professionals providing support within their scope of practise.
Provide support for all CPD within the organisation
Develop and maintain accurate records of all CPD undertaken within District nursing and its impact upon workforce planning
Maintain one’s own professional knowledge to develop and promote the implementation of new legislation/ guidance to the workforce
Have an understanding and lead on the development, implementation and sustainability of new guidance/policies to meet the patients’ needs
Work in partnership with the PEF and other professionals to develop the service
Be active in workplace induction for new starter
Work clinically on the wards/community services to maintain clinical practice and credibility within the role acting as a role model in the delivery of expert patient care
Contribute to the education and completion of competency frameworks within area of expertise.
