DIVISIONAL MANAGER, SUSTAINABILITY

We seek a Divisional Manager to lead and develop a global team, focusing on sustainability reporting and helping clients manage issues across the ESG agenda.
Position Overview: The Divisional Manager will lead sustainability reporting activities, align clients’ reporting with industry best practices, and ensure high-quality service delivery. This includes data collection, assurance, and strategic growth to meet sustainability targets. They will also oversee the climate change department.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- In-depth understanding of Environmental, Mining, and Water legislation.
- Proficient in project management and financial principles.
- Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, rating agencies, and technical data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel and work under strenuous conditions.
- Deep understanding of responsible investment, sustainability emerging topics, and the latest energy industry trends, strategies, and technologies.
- Knowledge of Sustainability/ESG rating agencies, frameworks, and databases.
- Expert in technical sustainability data, calculation methodologies, and limitations.
- Establish credibility and effectively interact with clients, including all levels of senior leadership.
- Self-motivated, autonomous with a can-do attitude.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to build and maintain relationships with senior executives.
- A flair for writing; you will enjoy transforming information and data into compelling copy and infographics.
- Strong project management skills: you will be developing sustainability reports from start to finish, working with clients until they are perfect.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Postgraduate degree in Financial Communications, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability or similar.
- Management Development Programme (MDP) or similar qualification (beneficial).
- Project Management Certificate (beneficial).
- Professional registration (e.g., SACNASP).
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 10 years in the relevant field, preferably within consulting.
- Experience in copywriting or editing.
- Five or more years of management experience leading teams.
- Practical experience with key reporting frameworks and other sustainability reporting standards.
- Experience in developing decarbonization strategies and managing Scope 3 carbon emissions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Practical experience in calculating and managing Scope 3 carbon emissions.
- Developing decarbonization strategies and roadmaps.
- Analyzing and supporting sustainability reporting to improve operational performance.
- Knowledge of sustainable procurement and due diligence.
