An exciting opportunity to work with the cell therapy team, supporting the co-ordination of related and unrelated donor work up for cell collection has arisen through an increase in donor activity within the Cellular Therapy Program at The Christie
The donor service coordinates and reviews more than 80 donors per year, but this will significantly increase with additional donor registry collaborations.
Cell collections for unrelated donors requires protocol driven medical assessment and collation of the results, which are often sent to other clinical trusts.
This post is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave
The individual will play a key role in the assessment, review and coordination of both related and unrelated donors from two of the UK donor registries. This individual will be required to schedule medical assessments and collection procedures, revieing and ensure all the required investigations are complete. We are looking for an organised, calm and motivated individual to work within the small team, in this exciting and expanding speciality, with excellent communication skills.
This individual will ensure that the co-ordination and scheduling of key clinical investigations and procedures are implemented and liaison with third party stakeholders and our own clinical team will be essential.
This person will be a link with other key teams involved in the donor pathway both in and outside of the organization.

To provide specialist nursing for all unrelated/related donors within the existing therapeutic apheresis service. To ensure seamless communication between The Christie and requesting registry.
Ensure medical assessment and PBSC/Bone marrow collection occurs according to collection manuals including submission of data collection as requested
Responsible for ensuring prompt scheduling of donor assessments and collection
Act as a liaison between the medical officer at the Christie and the associated unrelated registry.
Act as key worker in outpatient clinics for all related/unrelated donors
Ensure access to timely written and verbal information to donor, providing advice and support allowing an informed decision.
