QUALIFICATIONS

We’re also looking for the following technical competencies:
 Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience with a demonstrated track record of annual giving or major gift area
 Past experience a PLUS, with any or all: middle donor programs/societies; matching gift programs; or planned giving
 Proficiency with customer relationship management (CRM) software to maximize relationship management, Raiser’s Edge is a plus
 Extraordinary interpersonal skills: the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with donors and colleagues.
 Ability to use discretion when handling and communicating sensitive information
 Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and be detail-oriented
 Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
 Ability to make persuasive and motivating presentations and build relationships with members of diverse constituencies at all levels of authority.
 Ability to get to the heart of the matter by understanding the audience and by synthesizing variety of material into strong presentations.
 Ability to work cross-functionally with global teams.
 Ability to travel domestically (and internationally)(up to 5%) and participate in evening and weekend hours for donor meetings and events.

Responsibilities:

The Donor Engagement Officer works in conjunction with the Annual Fund Director and leadership team to implement dynamic and successful donor relations and annual giving programs in support of Alight’s mission and fundraising goals. This role is charged with growing donor engaged and involvement, as well as successfully facilitating annual giving programs.
This role interacts with donors at the $5k-25k annual giving level as a gifts officer, setting and managing engagement efforts and priorities for a portfolio of annual fund donors.
Building a shared organization takes time and intention. We will always be becoming Alight, which means your work will evolve as well. For now, here’s how you could anticipate spending your time:

Portfolio Management (55%):

  • Works with the Annual Fund Director to implement a successful annual giving strategy, with an eye toward the long-term and consistent success of all fundraising needs of the organization
  • Manage a portfolio of: very engaged middle donors; less engaged middle donors; and a select group of $1k-$5k donors exhibiting an inclination for increased giving/engagement. Your primary responsibility is with donors and prospects (approx.. $5k-25k), cultivating, soliciting and stewarding through frequent contact. You’ll also work to develop and maintain a system of communication and conversation with less engaged middle donors. And you’ll make space for developing relationships with a smaller group of middle donors prospects and new donors.Identify donors’ passions and interests, build relationships, and leverage those relationships into meaningful support opportunities.

    • Execute gift solicitation efforts, with a particular focus on current donors, past donors and prospects; create proposals for general operating and restricted programs, including blended asks; manage toward a target annual revenue goal for your portfolio and relevant middle donor segments
  • Use research, screening data, giving history, knowledge, and other information to inform appeal segmentation and customized solicitation amounts
  • Implement stewardship and recognition for annual gifts
  • Work with the Director and CMEO to further all fundraising goals, meeting individual goals while helping the team reach group revenue goals
    Middle Donor Engagement Society (25%):
    Work with the Annual Fund and Global Connections teams to create virtual and in-person engagement events, leveraging Alight’s global changemakers and innovative programming;


    • Work with the annual fund team to create printed collateral in service to the middle donor group.

    Additional Leadership of Donor Stewardship (10%):

    • Work with Annual Fund team to design an approach for matching gifts; manage matching gifts outreach to maximize support and engagement with corporate employee donors, including utilizing the Match360 Pro platform
    • Work with Annual Fund Director to develop and implement the first steps in a long-range plan to promote and solicit bequests, trusts, and other planned/deferred gifts, coordinated with and complementary to other activities of the overall Marketing and Engagement Team
    • Communicate the impact of Alight while representing the organization and the issue of forced displacement to our community

    Data and Contact Record Management & Other Responsibilities (10%)

    • Analyze data/results and report on fundraising trends and results to the relevant teams
    • Collaborate with the Director and the database/production coordinator to ensure accurate and consistent data record keeping and gift acknowledgment, including working in Raisers Edge alongside the team.
    • Perform record entry for all personal fundraising activity to ensure proper management moves and tracking of solicitation and cultivation progress
    • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned in service of the success of all fundraising needs of the organization
