DESCRIPTION

The Donor Relations Manager solicits, cultivates, and builds donor relationships based on major gift strategy of building 1:1 relationships with the goal of moving donors to a higher level of engagement and an increase in major gifts year over year.
Responsible for completing tasks and projects that support and maintain an environment that instills the advancement of those we serve towards dependency on Jesus Christ and financial self-sufficiency; the fulfillment of ministry mission & eight key values; and the efficient & accountable stewardship of ministry resources.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) Experience: 3-5 yrs of job related work experience.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques and styles.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
  • Christ-centered behavior, i.e., treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity at all times.
  • A pleasant and energetic personality to people you are speaking to on the telephone, visitors, and company personnel. The ability to act and think promptly and professionally.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain the highest level of ethical fundraising practices, including but not limited to: communicating with donors through ministry approved channels, prioritizing the donor’s relationship to the mission and not a personal relationship, and an agreement to refrain from sharing personal contact information with donors.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships between them and the organization.
  • Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts.
  • Demonstrated leadership coupled with a “detailed approach” to administration and organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to address conflict with staff, as well as donors, and be able to intercede and find reasonable solutions in order to maintain harmonious relations.
  • Hands-on PC compatible computer knowledge, understanding and skill.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer).
  • Knowledge of tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets and estates.
  • Effectively articulate a case for support so that others take heart to our vision/mission/goals securing gifts at assigned donor giving levels.
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate.
  • Experience with database entry, reporting, and maintenance.
  • Basic typing (40 wpm)
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to change and urgent request.
  • Maintains an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our insurance carrier, less than 2 DMV points on driving record).
  • Regular involvement in a local Bible-believing church.
  • Signed acknowledgement of the OCRM Statement of Faith.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours including weekends and evenings.
  • Regular timely attendance.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages a caseload capacity of 150 donors (60%)
  • Cultivates donor relationships by updating, appreciating, and asking major donors to deepen their financial partnership
  • Solicits and closes gifts from major donors
  • Executes strategy through in-person, phone, email, and USPS communication
  • Understands OCRM programs and projects and effectively communicates the mission to donors
  • Conducts oneself in a professional, friendly and truthful manner to donors
  • Qualifies a pool of about 450 donors in order to build initial caseload and continually qualifies new donors as caseload space becomes available (10%)
  • Updates the database with call notes and new information about donors (20%)
  • Researches, identifies, and promotes hand-off of high capacity donors to the appropriate OCRM contact (5%)
  • Meets with a coach/manager on a bi-weekly basis for accountability and to discuss strategy and moves (5%)
