The Role
We’re looking for a motivated and self-driven Drainage Technical Specialist to join our Roads and Highways function. The candidate should as a minimum have a Bachelor of Engineering degree, professionally registered with ECSA, and a minimum of 10 years of practical experience. The candidate should be able to assume technical responsibility on multiple projects, and be able to provide technical advice in the mentioned field. By joining our team, the candidate will provide technical expertise in a wide variety of stormwater projects including township developments; provincial rural roads; intersection drainage design; urban arterials and national freeways; compilation of stormwater master plans and detailed stormwater management plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume technical responsibility on multiple projects.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to peers within the level of your expertise.
- Provide technical leadership in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Identify and provide solutions to challenging engineering problems.
- Ensure that appropriate technical standards and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements are adhered to.
- Able to present/represent their specific technical work.
- Plan and resource projects.
- Prepare client reports and designs.
- Assist in the management and training of staff including mentoring.
- Contribute to the overall management and profitability of the discipline .
- Supervision of drawing, project specifications and contract documentation.
- Prepare expressions of interest and tender submissions.
- Mentoring and coaching, both informal (e.g. project based), and formal (e.g. ECSA registration, supervising students.
- Provide assistance to Engineers with regards to technical designs.
- Interact with Engineers on a multidisciplinary project, with an awareness of integrations and potential clashes between
- disciplines.
- Complete technical duties as directed by the Section Manager (inclusive of design, costing and specifications).
