The Three Waters Unit is responsible for delivering sustainable water and waste services to the community, including the supply and treatment of drinking water. Within this unit is our IANZ accredited laboratory that provides analytical services and technical advice to a number of Council teams. The Laboratory Team has responsibilities for monitoring drinking water, environmental waters, wastewater and effluents, trade waste discharges, as well as solid and hazardous wastes.

As a Drinking Water Sampling Technician, your primary role will be to collect and analyse samples for microbiological and some chemical determinands as part of the Council’s drinking water monitoring programme. Some sampling and analysis of wastewater and surface water is also required. A substantial part of the position (approximately 70% of daily duties) involves field work that sometimes requires four-wheel driving, with approximately 30% spent doing other duties, including database work and laboratory analysis. Regular on-call work, and work on weekends and public holidays is required (including working through much of the Christmas holiday period).
