The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment, and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.
About the role
The Drive 4 Life program offers young people who may be in vulnerable or disadvantaged situations the opportunity and support to fulfil the requirements for gaining their drivers licence. The Drive for Life coordinator provides efficient logistical support and manages staff and volunteers for the Drive for Life Program, responsibilities include managing DFL staff, reviewing and managing SAMIS data, organising driving instructor lessons, organising contractor driving instruction lessons, managing volunteers, compiling reports for the funding body, following a structured program model, building the capacity of the program through volunteer involvement and establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with community stakeholders to fulfil the clients’ driver’s licence requirements.

You will successfully

  • Coordinate and implement the Drive for Life Program in partnership with community partners and key stakeholders. Including but not limited to; managing staff and SAMIS data, coordinating driving lessons with external instructors, manage instructor driving lessons and supervision of records of client progress towards successfully obtaining L and P licenses, compiling reports for funding bodies.
  • Work with Manager to ensure the programs are meeting key performance indicators.
  • Develop and monitor program plans and strategies, risk management plans and maintain required documentation, records, reports and data collection.
  • Ensure program KPI’s and benchmarks are met and reported on when required
  • Undertake ad hoc duties as requested by the Manager.

You will have

  • A current BLUE CARD
  • A current First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain one
  • A current Drivers licence
  • A strong team focus with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and build relationships with people of all backgrounds
  • Tertiary education in Business Administration/Information Technology or significant demonstrated equivalent relevant experience, knowledge and skills.
  • WHS – knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace in line with TSA policy & procedures and legislation
  • Experience working with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.

This is a full-time, permanent position located in Gympie, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Level 4.1 Award.
