ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The commercial deals of the Molten Sulphur cargoes transacted by the Trading Desk need to be implemented as per the negotiated terms & conditions and carried-out on a day-to-day basis.
The jobholder is responsible for protecting the P&L of this trading desk by executing each contract efficiently, hence avoiding any loss and possibly increasing the profit.
The position shall include cover the trading Operator during holiday/unplanned absence.
Support the trading desk by providing historical and/or statistical data and operational advice with regards to new contracts upon request.

Responsibilities:

As a Dry Bulk Trading Operator Intern, you will be the key interface between the Dry Bulk Trading Desk, the Chartering Desk, the Shipping Operations Desk, the Back-Office, and the Finance & Legal departments to operate the negotiated contracts of the highly valuable physical Sulphur, Petcoke and Woods Pellets cargoes traded by the Company. With a focus on Molten Sulphur.

Job dimension:

  • International activity with a European dimension (UK/France/Italy/Belgium/Germany..)
  • Logistics for Sulphur: 5 000 trucks, 210 trains and 90 barges per year.
  • Interactions with a great variety of worldwide interlocutors, both internal and external, in an international/multicultural surrounding (mainly focused in Europe)
  • Significant role in the payment process
  • Best possible optimisation of the trading profit ( PnL)

In this context, your main responsibilities will be the following:

  • Select the logistical partners and define the contractual scheme, in coordination with the RC and MS experts on train and trucks services. Participate to the negotiation/contractual discussion with the contractors.
  • Manage and monitor the performance of those contracts.
  • Monitor the dry bulk Sulphur markets and provides regular updates to the Dry Bulk Trading desk.
  • Estimate the logistics costs and provides quotations to support the Dry Bulk trading activity (spot cargo opportunity, cargo diversion …).
  • Assist the traders in clarifying/defining their needs.
  • Always ensure a high level of safety in the activity in due compliance with the Trading Division’s rules and with the TotalEnergies procedure. In particular:
  • always ensures a full compliance with the Group vetting procedure and safety guidelines;
  • always ensures a full compliance with the trading authority limits and delegations of authority;
  • Always ensures a full compliance with the credit department procedures for third parties approval.
  • Ensure a good coordination with the dry bulk trading.
  • Monitor the performances and control the costs of parties.
  • Negotiate and compromise any dispute with stakeholders.
  • Support the trading desk in negotiating the shipping related aspects of Sulphur contracts (LT contracts, spot purchase or diversion agreement…)
  • Participate to the setting up of the chartering company, developing the procedures and IT tools to support its activity.
  • If needed, represent the department in shipping committee (compatibility meetings, vetting …).
  • Esure storage and process contracts are diligently managed (quantities / qualities / financial exposure / customs etc.).
  • Identify the cause of any encountered operational problems and ensure resolution through coordination with all affected stakeholders, mitigating costs and consequences for the Group
  • Participate, in association with the traders, to the regular delivery program discussions with suppliers and receivers, aiming at the perfect match between supplies and demand
  • Thoroughly check and apply the various deadlines / time-bars to perform requested tasks in a timely manner. Failure to do so could lead to high extra costs,
  • Create a very trustful and fruitful cooperation with terminals/suppliers and customers correspondents providing a real additional value for the traders,
  • Precisely and carefully record and capture the requested data of the activities in the various internal systems in order to maintain accurate files in view of follow-up, archiving and audit purposes and participate in the development of the new operational software, cooperating with IT department, which will result in a better integrated system (Sulphur Tool/Medissys)
  • Regularly liaising liaising with Middle Office regarding the P&L impacts caused by operational changes,
  • Participate in projects to simplify and streamline all operational flows sustainably and through innovative new tools and procedures.
  • Seek value-add opportunities through market intelligence and optimisation of logistics and trading deals
