Description:

The main responsibility of this role is the confident and sound clinical decision-making ability, alongside appropriate use of the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure that any patient concern is handled appropriately and steps are taken to ensure that the correct support is implemented. The duty worker may be expected to complete urgent assessments and on occasion deliver planned interventions, however they will not be expected to manage a caseload of patients. It is expected that the duty worker would support the team with service users who are struggling with their mental health but where crisis intervention is not indicated. It is hoped that this may help the service user to avoid a hospital admission or further deterioration to their mental health and well-being.
The duty worker would be expected to have excellent communication, time management and prioritisation skills - all of which are essential to ensure that concerns are appropriately considered, escalated and any outcomes actioned in a timely manner. We would expect the duty worker to have extensive experience in risk assessment and management. The Team is guided by collective decision making, providing evidence-based psychological and medical interventions to patients with often complex mental health difficulties. The patients journey is guided by the biopsychosocial formulation of their presenting difficulties, which subsequently inform the development of a collaborative plan of care for the patient.
We draw from evidence-based interventions to provide high quality and effective interventions along side appropriate safety plans. The Duty Worker will be able to use these plans of care and associated risk management documents to guide their interactions and interventions. The applicant will need to have up to date knowledge on mental health service delivery frameworks including but not limited to, safeguarding of adults and children and appropriate methods of escalation of any concerns. Your role will involve working closely with other partners, agencies, carers, service users, families and the local community, ensuring continuity of service is provided at a high level.
