COMPETENCIES (TECHNICAL / BEHAVIORAL)

Technical – must have
5+ years technical business analysis experience
Experience working in projects in the Financial Services Industry preferably with a custodian, fund administrator, software vendor or similar.
Experience working with data, data warehouse and writing SQL queries; some level of ability to read SQL procedures desired.
Experience mapping and documenting data flows between systems.
Agile experience would be preferred including use of any ALM tool would be of an advantage (QC, TFS, Jira)
Technical – desired
Exposure to investment administration applications (e.g. HiPortfolio, Simcorp, Multifonds), unit pricing application (e.g. pControl) or similar.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Degree qualified in IT, Business, or related discipline; and / or relevant work experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities:

POSITION PURPOSE

The role of IT Analyst sits within the Technical Analyst team which is part of the Information Technology division of BNP Paribas Securities Services (BP2S).
The IT Analyst is responsible for the analysis, design and testing activities for all application changes. Analyst is also required to support the respective interfaces, reports and excel spreadsheets used as part of the end to end process.
In their role, the IT Analyst works with data warehouse (Microsoft SQL server), internal web applications and Microsoft Biztalk server (middleware). These technologies are used to support a diverse range of business functions including fund administration, pricing, middle office, custody, regulatory reporting etc.
The team works within a matrix structure, delivering into projects that are managed across all platforms. They communicate with internal and external stakeholders (including business stakeholders in operations, product and coverage, vendors, consultants, suppliers and occasionally BP2S clients).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Analysis

  • Working with the business or client to understand the full scope of the requirement, taking into account all upstream / downstream impacts relevant to the business process.
  • To act as a consulted party in reviewing Business Requirements, providing feedback where applicable;

Functional Design

  • Working with relevant project stakeholders to understand the project goals and help develop a solution that is consistent with current design, scalable and client agnostic;
  • Developing user story based functional design in-conjunction with the business, architects, developers and service delivery staff
  • Complying with the company IT standards & guidelines in the functional design

Testing

  • Develop and/or support system test case creation
  • Conduct and/or support system test execution
  • Providing UAT and production implementation support

General

  • Appropriately applying the development and project management methodology
  • Providing realistic estimates and delivering within these estimates (time and budget)
  • Complying with audit and security requirements
