Description:

Job Introduction
‘Becoming a Keyworker at East Sussex County Council has been a really positive move for me. I’ve always been passionate about working with Children and families and had previously done this working within a school. Whilst I really enjoyed my time at the school, there was a limit to the support I could offer, and I really wanted to work with the whole family’.

JOHN, KEYWORKER, EARLY HELP

As a Keyworker you will deliver specialist support to families who have been assessed as having multiple and complex needs, who without support are at risk of needing a social care intervention or at risk of entering the care system.
Assess need and develop a plan with the family that has clear and measurable outcomes.

We are looking for people who:

  • Have the ability to engage and motivate families to change through offering intensive support and evidence-based interventions.
  • Ability to identify safeguarding concerns, seeking management guidance when appropriate.
  • To communicate clearly and confidently, both orally and in writing; to initiate challenging conversations with family members to challenge negative and entrenched behaviour and to give constructive feedback and praise as appropriate.

We want to make the application process as easy as possible, so If like John a job as a Keyworker appeals to you, then please send us a CV and cover letter.

We will be shortlisting for interview based upon people who can show:

  • Experience of working within Safeguarding processes.
  • An understanding of the issues impacting vulnerable children / families.
  • Evidence of undertaking assessments and developing plans for families / children.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable Children and / or families.

So please make sure you highlight these points in your cover letter. Short and to the point is the way to go.

Responsibilities:

Interviews will take place within two weeks of closing date and will be face to face or remotely via Microsoft Teams. We will try to accommodate any special requests for the interview slot if you are shortlisted for the role.
We offer a great package of professional training to develop you and to give you the ‘tools to do the job’. You will be part of a Team of Keyworkers and will receive good supervision from an experienced manager.
At East Sussex County Council, we also offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment. More information can be found on our benefits page - benefits page.
