Role: Ecommerce Assortment Planner
Team: Ecommerce Merchandising
Scope: Individual Contributor, P3
Year of Experience: 3+ Years
Location: Ventura, CA
As an Ecommerce Assortment Planner for North America, you will be responsible for crafting monthly pre-season forecasts for styles on the US website, informed by sales history and market analysis. You will make sure your product investment strategy supports key business drivers along with brand carrying styles. You will communicate your strategy to cross functional partners, build seasonal hindsights from sales analysis to inform future strategies, and participate actively in global line plan development.

What You’ll Do

  • Create a monthly pre-season full price forecast at the style and color level for the US website. Your forecast will be informed by historical sales, current trend and knowledge of new opportunities from market analysis.
  • Develop size scales to be applied to your forecast and make informed recommendations of expanding or retracting offerings in sizes based on productivity.
  • Decide which styles and colors to drop from the global assortment based on anticipated sales volume for the web channel.
  • Use future season marketing stories to inform your buy and ensure we can support brand carrying messages in sport and life outdoors.
  • Ensure bottoms up category sales plans and purchases support seasonal region and product strategies, and balance with Merchandise Financial Plan
  • Inform global product and planning teams of your buy strategy to align investments with brand initiatives through buy reviews and key line plan touchpoints.
  • Build seasonal hindsights of both color and product performance with an emphasis on future season opportunities from sales analysis insights. These hindsights will be used to craft updated buy strategies as well as influence the upcoming global assortments.
  • Be an active participant in the global line plan development process. Involvement includes line plan feedback, sketch review, color line review, global brand summit and global sales meeting.
  • Build strong relationships with members of the digital studio and ecomm merchandising to ensure your investments are translated into an effective shopping and storytelling experience online.
  • Visit competitors in market to keep a pulse on key competitors (both inside and outside the outdoor industry).

Experience You Bring

  • Three to five years of experience in ecommerce assortment planning, buying, merchandising, or related; specific experience developing seasonal buy quantities or bottoms up item sales forecasts a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively to make the most impact with limited resources or time.
  • History of navigating ambiguity and establishing process.
  • Experience forecasting for a broad and diverse product mix inclusive of several hundred different styles and colors per season.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with data analysis; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with retail planning systems and/or onboarding new systems is a plus.
  • BA or BS (or equivalent experience of 4+ years) in Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain or related field preferred.

Hiring Range: $80,000 to $95,000
Pay Range: $76,000 to $114,000
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
