Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The eCommerce Software Development Manager leads and oversees the design, development, and implementation of software solutions that drive our online retail platform. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality, scalable, and innovative technology solutions that enhance user experience, increase sales, and ensure seamless operation of our eCommerce business. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, UI/UX design, marketing, and operations, to deliver projects that align with our business goals and customer needs.

General Duties and Responsibilities:.

  • Lead the eCommerce software development team in the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects within budget and timelines.
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performing software architectures for our eCommerce platform.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, set priorities, and establish scope, ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer needs.
  • Manage the software development lifecycle, including concept, design, testing, release, and support.
  • Ensure the adoption of best practices in software development, including Agile methodologies, continuous integration, code review, and automated testing.
  • Foster innovation and continuous improvement by researching emerging technologies and trends in eCommerce and software development.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for system software, databases, and applications.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development support to team members, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of the software development team.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including negotiation and oversight of contracts and services.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and best practices in cybersecurity.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required. Masters degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years software development experience.
  • 5+ years development management experience.
  • Proven experience as a software development manager, project manager, or team lead in an eCommerce environment.
  • Strong technical background in software development, including experience with modern eCommerce platforms, programming languages (e.g., PHP, Java, JavaScript), and databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and analytically.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX best practices and customer-centric design.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their application in eCommerce solutions.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and data protection regulations relevant to eCommerce
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete assignments within deadlines.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and independently, in high-stress and fast-paced environments- ability to focus during busy periods throughout the month and year.
  • Must be highly motivated and organized, as well as have extreme attention to detail.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Communication: Must be able to speak and listen when meeting with others in person, via video/conference calls, or on the phone.
  • Read / Write / Type: Must be able to communicate via email and must be able to review, document, and edit processes and project plans as well as other written materials.
  • Must be able to to work on PC for extended periods.
  • Travel: Must be able to travel on occasion to other IE facilities or required meetings.
    Environment: Work environment is typically an office environment located in remote or onsite office.
