Job Description:
The Digital Buildings Business of Schneider Electric provides Intelligent building management solutions to help customers create a productive and comfortable environment for its occupants, reduce energy consumption and run building operations efficiently. As a critical part of the building ecosystem, we provide solutions for air quality monitoring and room control. Valve & actuators type products are also engineered.
We are now looking for an EcoReferent & Sustainability Engineer for our product development team based in Montreal, Qc. This is a cross functional role, and you will be involved in efforts to secure compliance with environmental public policy, optimize the utilization of resources and reduce environmental impact of our product offer. You will work in close collaboration with the Sustainability leader and with our team of EcoReferents.

Responsibilities:

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Coordinate the internal Green Premium process for product portfolio commercialized by our group
  • Use digital tools to create Life-cycle Analysis, Product Environmental Profiles and End-of-Life Instructions
  • Secure compliance to environmental directives and regulations (RoHS, REACH, WEEE, US TCSA and Prop 65, etc.) for preexisting and latest offers
  • Collecting design data directly from material manufacturers, component vendors, or test labs
  • Specifies to sub-contractors and suppliers the requirements through Statement of Work and ensures the follow up of compliance
  • Participate in global company networks on sustainable product design and environmental compliance
  • Keep up to date on new environmental standards and regulations in Europe and North America
  • Provide guidance to system and product design teams that reduce negative impact on environment
  • Serve as a technical advisor for our engineering on environmental policies and standards to ensure regulatory applicability
  • Conduct research and technical audits on environmental impact of new projects, study data and perform quality control checks
  • Monitor progress and provide reports to higher level management
  • Document and maintain plans, requirements, protocols, permits and standard operating procedures
    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental science education
  • Strong interest in sustainable product design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data science and analytics
  • Understanding of standards and regulations
  • Proficiency with data collection, data cleaning, data analysis with large datasets
  • Experience in Product Data Management and Configuration tools
  • Knowledge of any of the following would be an asset: Data management in Microsoft Excel, PTC Windchill
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French; both verbally and written
