Description:

Trainee and Internships
EMBL Heidelberg
EMBL is Europe’s life sciences laboratory – an intergovernmental organisation with more than 110 independent research groups and service teams covering the spectrum of molecular biology. It operates across six sites in Heidelberg (headquarters), Barcelona, Cambridge, Grenoble, Hamburg and Rome. Our mission is to perform basic research in molecular biology; train scientists, students and visitors at all levels; offer vital services to scientists in the public and private sectors within the member states; develop new instruments and methods; and engage actively in technology transfer.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated intern to join the Science in School Team, which is hosted at EMBL Heidelberg, Germany. Our mission is “to support teachers in the delivery of their STEM curricula by connecting them to inspiring, cutting-edge science and technology, in order to foster positive attitudes towards the science that shapes our lives, and attract students to careers in these fields.” In practical terms, this means commissioning and publishing both teaching activities and information on topical scientific themes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience in science communication and publishing in an international environment.
This is an intern position, and as such we expect you to be willing to take direction, ask questions and be eager to learn. In return, we will work with you to expand your skill-set and gain invaluable experience for your CV.

You will need to be proficient with the use of standard software packages such as Microsoft Office and should ideally have experience with uploading and editing online material, as well as using social media like Twitter and Facebook. You will be capable of working well as part of a team and use your initiative to come up with new ideas.
