Description:
Education and Development Lead Therapeutic Radiographer, Band 7 (22.5 hours a week)
This is a permanent post working 3 days as the Education and development Lead radiographer. It is based mainly at the Oncology centre in Cheltenham but it may require an occasional visit to the Hereford Satellite centre.
Gloucestershire Oncology Centre takes student radiographers on clinical placements from UWE and BCU, who require clinical assessments and regular feedback with objective setting. There are also apprentices from Sheffield Hallam. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing this process and providing students with extra support if needed. They will also need to deal with any performance issues, liaising with the relevant University to formulate an individual action plan.

Assume responsibility for supporting all students on placement, offering pastoral support and troubleshooting any issues raised.
Overseeing student assessments and ensuring all paperwork is completed for the students throughout their placements.
Liaise with link lecturers from all Universities, attending meetings and providing clinical input as required.
Organise and oversee visits to the department for staff on inductions or prospective students.
Run careers events.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
BSc in Radiotherapy or DCR (Therapy).HCPC registration. Evidence of M level training including assessor training. Teaching qualifications would be desirable. Excellent communication skill. Self-motivated. Well organised. Acts on initiative. Work safely under pressure. Conscientious and enthusiastic. Patient and non-judgemental.
The Gloucestershire Oncology Centre provides Radiotherapy services to patients from Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, and Worcestershire and in some instances beyond these geographical regions.

The centre is run over two sites with the primary site located in the Oncology Centre of Cheltenham General Hospital and a Satellite site at the County Hospital, Hereford. The department consists of 5 Varian Linear accelerators, a Brachytherapy unit and a Superficial unit.

To this end, the post holder will have responsibility for training students who can deliver an efficient, high quality, safe service for patients, with outstanding patient care.
The post holder must be a current Band 6 Therapeutic radiographer with significant experience in training of junior staff and students. Job description is attached.
