Description:

SUMMARY

Provides clinical training for Organ Operations staff; provides and coordinates orientation training for new staff; provides and coordinates ongoing education activities from internal and external sources for assigned staff. Ensures compliance with UNOS and CMS staff training requirements.
Compensation range for this position is $87,243.00 - $98,149.00 annually.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience and demonstrated competency as an ORC
  • Previous training/presentation/education experience or coursework
  • Ability to create and deliver training content through multiple training modalities
  • Ability to adapt training approach to suit a variety of learners
  • Ability to design training programs, pre- and post-tests, and course evaluations
  • Skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ability to master online learning management system

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Support Gift of Hope’s mission, vision and values; adhere to its policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position
  • Develop training materials, plans and schedules; conduct and coordinate delivery of training for Operations staff that meets or exceeds regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Create training materials using the most appropriate content modalities
  • Maintain documentation of all training activities
  • Generate reports, create assignments, and change user information for assigned staff using learning management software
  • Conduct in-the-field observations and evaluations of Operations staff to assess their mastery of critical job skills/core competencies; identify opportunities for remedial training and/or continuous education
  • Participate in the identification and training of clinical preceptors and provide back-up to clinical preceptors as needed
  • Facilitate case and experience debriefings with preceptors and trainees to monitor and document training progress and completion
  • Assist other departments in professional education programs as assigned
  • Maintain proficiency in all clinical aspects of the ORC role through scheduled shifts as ORC as assigned
  • Participate in meetings, staff development days, and internal and hospital case debriefings and departmental quality and process improvement activities as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that will be encountered by an employee while performing the essential functions of the job.

  • Normal office environment
  • Hospital clinical environment, including all patient care areas
  • 12-hour shifts including day shifts, night shifts, weekends and holidays as assigned; shifts extending beyond 12-hours when responsibilities warrant
  • Travel by car and occasionally by plane to hospitals and other meeting locations within Gift of Hope’s service area
  • Occasional travel outside the service area by auto or plane to assigned conferences or meetings
  • Carry a personal cell phone to be accessible outside regular business hour
