de Souza Institute is part of the Professional Development portfolio at the University Health Network. We offer health care professionals online courses to enhance expertise to provide the best possible cancer and palliative care. The courses provide advanced knowledge and expertise to handle every situation including managing a reaction to chemotherapy medication, managing anxiety and fears, and managing pain and other symptoms.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: de Souza Institute is part of the Professional Development
Reports to: Director, Information Management
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy
Status: Temporary Full-Time
Closing Date: June 28, 2024
As an Instructional Designer/ Developer, you will contribute to de Souza Institute’s elearning programs by collaborating with educators and course development team members to design and write storyboards, design documents, and develop elearning courses as required.
The successful candidate will be comfortable in collaborating with team members to create, design, and produce effective visual presentations for blended and online learning experiences using graphics, animations, artwork and photos.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years practical experience in developing online/multimedia courses
  • 2+ years practical experience in designing online learning solutions, grounded in adult learning principles
  • Experience with 3rd party course authoring tools (e.g., Storyline, Lectora, Captivate) for developing online courses
  • Experience with Adobe suite of graphic designing tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (e.g. Moodle, Brightspace, Canvas)
  • Demonstrated ability to design creative, interactive online-courses
  • Strong creativity to develop innovative approaches to create new learning experiences
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrated skills in working within a team under strict, tight timelines, demonstrating a high degree of self-direction, initiative and motivation
  • Superior interpersonal, communications and computer skills and the ability to work with people from a variety of different groups
  • Post secondary degree in training / education or web development
  • Plain Language writing experience an asset
    This is a fully remote position with lots of flexibility, working with a tight-knit and agile team that has an amazing culture and extremely low turnover. All necessary computer equipment will be provided

Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal supervision, design and develop interactive online training programs
  • Design web-based courses that effectively and creatively use technology to meet educational and business goals
  • Develop, test, and debug modules so that they work without defects
  • Analyze existing instructional materials to identify potential areas for design modification using new technologies
  • Participate in planning and design meetings with educators and other staff
  • Estimate workflow and meet deadlines
  • Participate in establishing course development schedules
