Description:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS program development and implementation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA in physical science, chemical engineering, safety, health, industrial hygiene, or environmental discipline
  • 3 or more years of experience in EHS program development and implementation
  • Relevant certifications (CHMM, QEP, CET, REM, ASP, CSP, CIH, or PE)
  • Knowledgeable about operation and environment supporting – manufacturing, distribution, tooling, etc.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills –includes both verbal and written

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for administering all elements of the facility’s environmental health and safety program with an emphasis on establishing and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. This includes implementation of testing/monitoring programs to assure compliance, completion of regulatory reporting, initiation and leading of all EHS training programs, establishment of facility direction with regard to new EHS issues/regulations and corporate standards, and service as a liaison with all appropriate governmental agencies including emergency response and notification. The incumbent will display a strong knowledge of environmental and safety regulations and their application to the facility while actively seeking to remain current with changes in such regulation, including changes in multiple states if supporting more than one facility.
Responsibilities:
1. Displays an expert knowledge of all federal, state and local environmental/safety regulations and corporate standards applicable to the facility. Leads and coordinates the application of and compliance to regulations in the facility with a wide range of complex regulatory issues.
2. Leads, facilitates and provides strategic direction for the development and implementation of the facility’s EHS program, formulating operating procedures, policies and standards specific to the facility’s EHS requirements. In addition, problem solves with management to determine the least hazardous solutions to processes.
3. Prepares all EHS reports ensuring their accuracy, completeness and timeliness. Initiates and conducts testing and/or monitoring programs for EHS compliance, and coordinates and conducts training sessions to inform and educate facility personnel according to EHS requirements.
4. Demonstrates leadership and expertise in interaction with other environmental and safety professionals within Hallmark for sharing information, addressing common EHS issues, and establishing strategic EHS direction.
5. Serves as facility liaison with appropriate governmental agencies for the purpose of consultation, communication of facility issues, on-site visits, and emergency responses.
6. Liaison with Risk Management and others responsible for leading corporate activities related to EHS duties
7. Continues to hold an environmental and/or safety accreditation such as CHMM, QEP, CET, ASP, CSP, CIH, or PE and maintain certification through continuous education.
