Description:

For the Italian production plant of J&J Innovative Medicine (Borgo San Michele - Latina) we are looking for a EHS Site Lead reporting to the EH&S Director – Small Molecules.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’ Degree in Scientific field (Engineering preferred)
  • At least +10 years of experience within pharma industries
  • Fluent knowledge of Italian (local language) and English
  • Knowledge of EHS programs and previous experience in Environmental Health, Safety and Regulatory inspections
  • People management experience
  • Strong Emergency and crisis Management experience
  • Strong organizational and work planning skills
  • Problem solving and ability to manage difficult conversations
  • Strategic mindset approach
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Experience in international assignments or working groups in a lead position is considered as a plus
  • Experience in sustainability projects
  • Project management skill
  • Passionate about EHS

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with site leadership team to develop and implement an EHS Strategy to address EHS program deficiencies and ensure EHS regulatory compliance
  • Develops strategic objectives for improving EHS performance in collaboration with site leadership teams; Establishes performance metrics and reports to leadership on their implementation and effectiveness
  • Oversees the development and implementation of EHS practices, procedures and management systems; looks for efficiency and improvement opportunities across sites in control
  • Ensures compliance with applicable EHS regulations and standards in collaboration with the RSPP; follows emerging EHS regulations and issues
  • Manages relations with representatives of various J&J groups and other organizations, including engineering, manufacturing and supply chain roles, etc., external bodies, local or national authorities
  • Communicates and provides ongoing consultation to leadership on business impacts of EHS and changes to national/state/local EHS laws, regulations and trends; uses influence to advance EHS compliance / programs
  • Executes the Global Audit program with active participation in system and technical audits; Ensures timely corrective actions are taken when EHS hazards are identified
  • Responsible for site EHS department including budget (Cost & CAPEX)
  • Manages and developes EHS professionals at site. Sets and monitors goals/objectives/assignments, provides adequate coaching/counseling, develops and monitors employee development plans, and provides recommendations as part of the succession planning, appraisal, and salary planning process
  • Leads/facilitates site EHS committees/teams to ensure implementation of the EHS program
  • Monitors and evaluates EHS risks of operations, including change management, ensuring continuous improvement of the EHS program to make it leaner and more efficient
  • Maintains local ISO certifications by ensuring site EHS management systems are aligned & maintained consistent with ISO and/or program standards
  • Develops and implements EHS training strategy for the site, ensuring key risk and regulatory requirements are addressed for appropriate audiences, including new hires
  • Develops relationships with other functions (e.g., engineering, facilities) to ensure EHS aspects are considered at the beginning of new/changing operations and to manage aspects of external manufacturers, suppliers and contractor programs
  • Leads incident/accident investigations and ensures prevention measures are developed and monitored.
  • Monitors/defines CAPAs and informs leadership of any non-conformities or anomolies; seeks opportunties to improve CAPA process
  • Seeks innovative approaches to drive continuous improvement in safety culture and overall EHS program effectiveness
  • Develops and maintains an Emergency Response Plan and ensures that drills and reviews are conducted as scheduled. Takes on the role as Incident Commander/Plant Emergency Officer in the event of crisis
