    The Provider Assurance and Support Section forms part of the Program Delivery Division. The Provider Assurance team is responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing management of assurance activities for DVA’s healthcare providers. The program of work incorporates risk and data analysis to prepare and implement forward work plan, developing and refining the supporting assurance framework, and analysing data assets for the purpose of assurance activities.
    The Lead Assurance Data Analyst will lead the team responsible for data extraction and analysis to support the assurance activities undertaken for DVA’s healthcare providers. The role provides support and expertise to the assurance team.
    We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, adept at engaging with stakeholders across various levels of the organisation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise at developing and manageing internal and external relationships, anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations effectively. Expertise in SQL, Teradata, SAS, or similar data analysis tools is essential, along with extensive experience in undertaking complex data analysis and leading business analysis activities.
    Additionally, knowledge of published methodologies used in the Australian Hospital sector would be advantageous. The ideal candidate should be capable of leading teams under limited direction, setting priorities, and ensuring high-quality outputs. We are looking for someone who can contribute to team capacity building through coaching, feedback, and supervision of staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the work undertaking complex data analysis projects to support business analysis and improvement activities within the Provider Assurance team. This requires understanding and integration of broader DVA business context.
  • Identify and transform data from multiple sources using novel techniques or emerging patterns into new datasets for use in analysis, risk or behaviour modelling
  • Use full range of functionalities of common applications and platforms, including automation and scheduling to generate analysis outputs, understand the analytical and/or modelling methodology being used and build complex repeatable solutions
  • Use a wide range of advanced data modelling methods to organise complex data objects (for example, predictive modelling, advanced clustering, text mining, social network analysis and association rules.) Perform advanced data analysis techniques to interpret data, reduce bias, find patterns or trends, validate unexpected results and solve problems for complex or sensitive datasets.
  • Design, build, test and maintain data solutions, systems and databases to solve problems related to the work of the Assurance team.
  • Generate high value actionable insights from highly complex data and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including the Assurance Officers and Senior Executive using highly complex reports, dashboards and other visualisation techniques.
  • Develop, fit, diagnose, and troubleshoot business rules or statistical models to identify organisational risk and/or complex client behaviour using unfamiliar methodologies or new patterns.
  • Influence improvements to technical documentation and use appropriate templates/version control to ensure repeatable, reproducible results by developing data definitions, dictionaries, metadata and data quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with other data professionals, business stakeholders, and IT specialists to drive system and process changes to realise strategic goals or deliver significant operational outcomes
  • Coach and train other analysts within the Assurance team.
  • Drive positive change and contribute to business improvement strategies and change initiatives.
