AUSTRAC is seeking a dedicated Application Security Engineer to join the System Development and Assurance team within the Innovation and Technology Solutions branch (ITS). You will be at the forefront uplifting the security posture of AUSTRAC’s software systems, identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities in our software applications and ensuring the systems comply with regulations and security standards. As a strong leader, you will drive and shape best security practices across AUSTRAC, while guiding a motivated and skilled team of software engineers. Responsibilities:
KEY DUTIES
- Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities in software applications.
- Conduct security risk assessments of software applications, both bespoke and COTS products.
- Develop and implement security procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Australians Signal Directorate Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Mentor and support AUSTRAC software engineers of varying levels and skillsets to address the stability, security and reliability of supported applications.
- Work with cross functional teams, various stakeholders and third-party vendors.

You will be a great fit for the role if you have:
- Tertiary education in relevant domain and/or high-level equivalent work experience.
- Strong development background in Java.
- Strong working knowledge of running containerised runtime environments (eg kubernetes), CI/CD.
- Demonstrated experience in leading best security practice
