Description:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

It is desirable that applicants have:

  • Working knowledge and experience with Industry ICT and/or Government Security standards (PSPF, ACSC, ISM, Essential 8).
  • Desirable to have, or working towards, a degree, a Diploma or higher in an ICT Cyber field.
  • Willingness for continued learning with a view to have completed technical training in relevant technologies/fields and hold certifications.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director, Cyber Governance and Education, the Team is responsible for providing support and advice to senior management on security measures, recommendations and advice required to ensure that information stored, processed or communicated by the Department’s information systems and services is protected. The team also ensures that the Department continues to maintain its maturity against the relevant Australian Government Cyber Security guidelines and policies through overseeing the various ICT project activities being undertaken within the Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of the EL1 Technical Assistant Director may include:

  • Managing cyber related incidents and queries.
  • Providing advice to staff on cyber matters.
  • Preparing briefs or other written artefacts for the executive or client agencies.
  • Managing ad hoc tasks or projects relating to cyber security.
  • Responding to audit findings.
  • Providing support for the IT Security Advisor role.
  • Developing and maintaining policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing and providing cyber security risk assessments.
  • Lead, mentor and develop other section staff.
